Claudewick,

I've found that the 2556 nibs often flow a lot better than the 9xxx ones, and that if you just use the 2xxx for a week or two it will adjust to your hand. Your mileage may vary.

Nice polishing job!

Tim

Thanks for the tip Tim!

I'll give a second chance for this nib!

Snak -- has your husband joined the fp crowd? Is it working for him?

Tim

Wow Tim, that pen is humongous! It looks like it can swallow a whole Goulet ink sample, including the sample vial too! Is it balanced well when you write with it?

Thanks for asking about my husband's fountain pen progress. He (a left handed overwriter) has had one practice session with the way you showed us how to do it, and it didn't go so well but I think it didn't write smoothly because he is just not used to holding the angle of the nib and keeping the sweet spot on the paper. I think he will feel much better if he continues to keep practicing, but he is discouraged again. Plus, his motivation for practicing with fountain pens is to make me happy, not to make himself happy, at this point. Basically he is humouring me by trying to write with fountain pens. He has this rollerball pen that I gave him for his 30th birthday 10 years ago, with his initials engraved on it and everything, and he loves that thing. He's used it faithfully for the last 10 years, although he lost it twice (once in a taxi cab and once in his client's conference room) both times the pen showed up after some effort tracking it down. I don't know he loves that pen so much because it was his milestone birthday present from me, or because it is a nice pen. I am starting to think that perhaps if I gave him a matching fountain pen he might feel obliged to use it, and be more willing to practice writing with it? That's my thinking at the moment any way. The thing is I can't force him to use fp, it's his choice, his handwriting is bad enough already that even I can't read it most of the time :yikes: , I don't know what will happen if he switches to fp. I'm out of ideas. All I wanted is for him to share in this fp hobby and admire the pens and the inks with me. He's happy to see me so into this hobby, but he's an outsider ATM not yet one of us "fp crowd" as you put it.

first post! =) my kaweco sport classic in fine. I had some golden thread and time on my hands so made a lanyard for it! Does help a bit seeing how the pen is really quite tiny and hard to find sometimes hahah. I wanted the clip but the shop i bought this from didnt have the gold ones on hand :( attachicon.gifDSC_09811.jpg

:W2FPN:

That's an ingenious idea to make a lanyard! I love the Kaweco Sport range because I don't need a clip for it, as the hexagonal shape prevents it from rolling off the desk. But I can see that your black Sport can go into hiding easily because it is not a bright colour. Mine are all bright so I can't miss them!

I like your notebook too. The red ruled lines are unusual aren't they?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

That is a great ink matched well with the crisp italic line. I should use my Oxblood more often, as I tend to overlook it compared to other brighter reds like Wild Strawberry and Poppy Red.

Today something new.

Yesterday evening I thought it´s time for a (classical) pencil drawing.

Planned was something quick, but in fact it turned out to be more difficult than expected.

Actually it took me about 3 times the time I expected when I started.

How comes that a single foot felt that difficult to create for me.... currently it feels more complicated than a face.....

Title: Walking Foot
Paper: Clairefontaine Dessin 160g/m2 A4
Material: Pencil
Effort: about 3 hours

Is that an early Mother's Day present? Perfect colour match with the ink!

Wow Ptero, you've outdone yourself! That is wonderful pencil drawing. The attention to detail is amazing. And I love the finishing touches of the painted toe nails. :happyberet:

Wow that's a cute pen, I love girly things. I haven't seen it before. It looks like the nib has some spring to it, so enjoy!

I can't imagine you being a non-flexy, black ink only type of guy, looking at your pens and inks now! How long ago was this when Ptero converted you?
