(Pelikan 100N Green Marble - EF ..... Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa)

Thanks for your explanation about how you use the glass gip pen in your artwork. Timing is crucial, I understand.

Great looking 100N! Did you get the 100N with the nib? I am curious if the 100N takes the later nib unit without modification, or if you have done some work to get the later nib to fit into the 100N somehow?

Wow Tim, I am soooo glad you didn't use Oxblood when you wrote that. I thought it was some kind of Victorian surgical instrument Jack the Ripper would have used! Is it contemporary or vintage?

Snak -- never occurred to me, but wish it had! No, apparently it was used for Chinese calligraphy; I'm looking for someone who actually knows how to use it properly. Definitely vintage....

My son's fiance sent me a box of envelopes to address for their upcoming wedding. I'm planning to use this pen and ink combo:

Sometimes the gold fleck in Stormy Grey is very pronounced, but it seems my photos rarely capture the full extent of the sheen and fleck. Here's a glimmer of what it looks like:

DC : Both the pens are gorgeous. That Durabilt is more attractive. I had a Delta Fusion and I know it must be quite generous in flow - best fit for the envelopes. Best Wishes !

Hi Snak,

You are welcome :)

There were several different nib designs for the 100 series, in parallel and over time.

So in my understanding what you call the "later" nib was also used in the 100s as well as the nib without the engraved lines. I assume mine has an original nib (but who knows that for sure).

Technically the nibs in the 100s are the same size as the ones in the 400s

The only difference is the nib unit.

So if you disassemble a 100 unit it could hold also a nib from a 400.

If you saw my "What's This ?" topic, the mystery was solved. The item in question turned out to be a Chinese calligraphy pen. The second picture is with the ink blotted; the ink is vintage Waterman Bleu Nuit.

The line differences and shading do not come from flex; this baby is stiff. So one would develop the skill of managing the angle of the edge against the paper. If any of you want to try it out, let me know? I would be pleased to see someone actually use it with skill. We can even pass it around if there's interest.

How do you hold it? Difficult to imagine writing with that thing, let alone doing calligraphy of any sort...

Fascinating!

Truly love my Rotring 600 - I've had it for maybe 26 years from new. Still a favourite.

Apologies for my ignorance, Ptero. I have this older nib unit with vertical feed fins and without the metal bit on the nib unit collar, and I want to swap the nib out as it has a hairline crack in it and replace with a loose CN script style nib, but the whole older nib unit looks more fragile than the modern nib units so I was just wondering if you may have done that kind of swap and how you went if you have done it.

I can see you wanted to match that ink to that pen, even if you don't match pen/ink colour often, they are perfect match!

Ok my first FPN post proper! Although I have a Italix Parsons Essential on order I couldn't wait to get a pen in hand so went shopping today. First stop was a MB shop and I had a play with a nice 146, but decided to try a cheaper option first, so here we have it....
