Don't Just Tell Us About The Pen You're Using, *show* Us! - 2015

OH....MY!!!!! I've been going through the estate pens I got. It appears that most of them haven't been used in decades, but were polished regularly. I got this one together last night, and when I inked it up just now...WOW WOW WOW! This may be the best writing pen I've come across. And, it has a matching pencil.

I've been trying to learn more about the Thompson, and there's not much out there. I did find a couple items online - this may be the H.B. Thompson Co. pens of Brooklyn in the early 1900's, but I don't know when lever fill pens were hitting the market. Another article I found mentions a reported robbery at the company, with the owner going missing a week later. Interesting stuff, but I still have a lot of gaps on this pen.

Needless to say, now that I know a little more about this pen, I'm being a little cautious. I don't want to do anything to mar this nearly flawless set.

Sky High is absolutely gorgeous! Is it very similar to Iroshizuku Kon-peki? (Do I need a bottle of Souten when I have Kon-Peki and van Gogh Cobalt? )

--

I don't have Sailor Kobe Gogh Cobalt so I can't comment on that, but I happen to have Sky High, Souten, and Kon-Peki so I will do a quick comparison a bit later and will show you. Just off the top of my head, I think Kon-Peki and Souten are different enough (for me) that I would get Souten if you don't have Sky High, but then that's just me. Do you need it? Maybe not, but do you WANT it? Possibly.

Thank you! :) I'm beginning to think I need all the Sailor Four Seasons inks...

My other favourites from that line are Okuyama and Tokiwa-Matsu. They have beautiful sheen too!

I did a quick comparison of Sky High vs. Souten vs. Kon-peki and have just posted the findings in the Inky Comparison subsection, link below:

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/288973-sky-high-vs-souten-vs-kon-peki/?p=3333994

Just a few photos to show you here. In short, I think Sky High and Souten are really similar (but I still prefer Sky High as it seems to have more sheen-creating dye in it). Kon-peki and Souten are different enough that I would get Souten if you don't already have Sky High. That is of course, if you are as ink crazy as I am. :)

Keep it in "as is" condition

Thank you for doing the comparison. :) I'm going to look at the link in a moment, but I just had to say that the sheen on Sky High is really something else! Wow.

Sadly, I think I've missed out on Sky High since it was discontinued before I knew of its splendid existence, but I'm sure I'll be satisfied with Souten and it's definitely going on my list of inks to buy. The only Four Seasons inks I have at the moment are Doyou and Shigure (the two boring ones :P), though I have my eye on Oku-yama and Yama-dori (I'm not so fond of greens).

attachicon.gifnew delta.JPG

This chap arrived yesterday.

I think I'll be using it "quite a bit" today.

Delta Ruby - that's a real looker !! So far I have had been partial to Visconti for its color pattern. I think after seeing this Delta I stand auto corrected.

Getting ready to write a thank you card with my new Nakaya Decapod Twist (Ao-tamenuri finish):

That is so gorgeous. I have been eyeing the Piccolo in Shiro Tamenuri forever, and once came very close to ordering it with either stubbed BB or flexed Music nib, but stopped myself for the cartridge/converter filling system. I am still thinking about it (in my back and forth way).

What ink is in your Decapod Twist?

Great work Ptero, as usual. I have been wondering, what for/how do you use the glass dip pen in your artwork? Is it to draw lines or to drip some ink onto the paper surface?

I've seen it described as Red, Ruby, and Rose, and when the light hits it, it could be described as any of the three. It shimmers and sparkles when you turn it in the light, and is a beautiful pen.

It's my first acrylic pen and I'm completely hooked.

The colour is amazing, and it writes beautifully as well, which is the main thing.
