I use most of the times ESS Registrars Blue/Black (I like the slight blue hue when it gets really wet (only if the paper is heavily sucked with ink) from the non iron gall dye component of the ink).

But I also want a real black, so I ordered Pelikan Fount India. I will let you know when it arrives and I did some testing,

Please let us know how you find the Pelikan Fount India ink. I have heard of it but have never tried it. I would be particularly interested in how it does with water wash over it.

Hmmmmm... Don't you hate it when you.... I cannot actually remember.. I know it was one of these three... suspect that it is the Noodlers as it is my most oft used. For me it seems to work well..

looking at my cross hatching, what a mess... more time, more care, better results... hard to rush these things... Next time...

Haha, I know that feeling. Exactly the reason I recently started an ink/pen log in a notebook!

The ink on the left is unfamiliar to me. Which brand is it please?

New today is an Edison Collier —Persimmon Swirl celluloid— with broad nib. Just for fun, I mixed up a "Poppy Orange" ink made mainly from Diamine Poppy Red and Rubinato Arancione ink. I may need to tinker with the mix a little more.

Ohh you did end up getting the Persimmon one!

I have in my head a prettiness radar, a machine that goes PING! and that orange swirly beauty certainly made it go off loud!

Great ink matchup too.

Text top to bottom and pens left to right:

1. Pilot Petit1 with medium nib swapped from a Varsity and converted to eyedropper, inked with Baystate Blue. Great burner pen for BSB sacrifice. Can't complain about that performance for the price.

2. Pilot Plumix inked with Iroshizuku Tsuki Yo. Meh.

3. Noodler's Nib Creeper inked with Lamy Blue Black. Another amazing bargain. A piston filling semi flex pen that works like a charm. Not bad looking, either.

4. Jinhao X750 with Goulet Pens broad nib, inked with De Atramentis Indigo. The pen is amazing for the price if you forgive the fragile black coating. I scraped it all off the cap due to scratches. It looks better, now. The ink is gorgeous. Such a deep, rich blue.

5. Pilot MR with Plumix nib swap, inked with Pilot Blue. Swapping a Plumix nib into a Pilot Metropolitan is perhaps the greatest combination of price, quality and fun currently available in the fountain pen hobby, for beginners especially. Highly recommended.

6. Lamy 2K in EF nib with R&K Sepia. Don't really feel the combo. Not sure why I did it.

7. Lamy Logo in EF nib with Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite. This combo is amazing. It's a go to for almost any situation.

8. Noodler's Konrad in Red Rebellion ebonite swirl, inked with Diamine Oxblood. Perfect combination. These two are bound for life and will always be in rotation.

9. Waterman Kultur in sparkly blue with a fine nib, inked with Pelikan 4001 Turquoise. Meh. The nib is too fine and dry for such a light color.

I have too many pens inked...

Fountain pens forever and forever a hundred years fountain pens, all day long forever, forever a hundred times, over and over Fountain Pen Network Adventures dot com!

David - Beautiful pens and inks!

Troy - That's a very interesting filling mechanism.

Good luck with your laptop hunting.

I've always stuck with Apple since the 80's so my choice is quite easy but there are so many options out there these days. With laptops its harder to build your own too, unlike desktops too.

They are huge! and beautiful. Are they hefty in weight as well, especially that Parker giant?

I am sure you can handle them real well.

SNAK - the no Shellac India Ink is surprisingly not a true black.. it is a dark gray, more like a 2B pencil... here is what the label says. I bought two bottles of this at a local office supply when they were cleaning to move... also bought a pen labeled PEN AND INK SKETCH as well.

fpn_1428628864__inkfront.jpg

I have used the ink in many pens with no issues... down to one bottle and a eyedropper worth in the other...

If you think everything is going well... you obviously have no idea what is really going on!

This is exactly what I need to do! I bought this pen and it came with a dreadful extra-fine nib that I simply cannot use. Did you have someone redo the nib for you, or did you do it yourself? I have a nice Waterman nib that I'd love to put on this pen. Advice?

:puddle: :puddle: :puddle:

I recently "rediscovered" my Visconti. I'd taken the nib out to send it off for an exchange (have the extra fine, wanted the stub). Then I got laid off and sort of forgot about it. Finally put it back together yesterday and I'm happy to say I've totally forgotten the reason I wasn't happy with the EF in the first place. :notworthy1:
