SNAK - No idea what you are doing with the photos, I am on a Macbook Air and no issues. Well now that I say that I will probably have issues. I am not sure on the matching ink for the blooms. I will need to check with my inkxpert ALD.

Tringle -- very nice pen -- even if unbranded, it looks too substantial to be a third tier unbranded. Does the clip look like anything you recognize?

SNAK -- and I'll pile on: I'm on an Air, a iMac, and iPad, the first two in Chrome and the last in Safari, with no problems other than envy for those pens...

Thank you, inotrym.....I think I'll 'play' a little, with cartridges, before deciding on a particular one(I do want to keep this as a one colour pen)....easier to flush after a cartridge. And I've got several of the ones you suggested, so it'll be fun to see which I like best.

I've always had problems finding a purple/violet ....never seems to feel quite right to me:back in the days when I used to paint(I am/was an artist) there was a beautiful shade that was not quite blue, not quite violet....and another I loved, rose d'ore. Now, if there was an ink that matched rose d'ore, that would be perfect.....

Alex

I haven't tried it myself, but I've read somewhere around here that Visconti Blue is borderline purple.

You could also take a look at Noodler's Kung Te-Cheng?

I tried a cartridge of Diamine Imperial Purple a while ago and I was really pleased with the shade, but it's probably not what you're looking for. More like a magenda purple rather than a blue purple.

I have no idea what color Rose d' Or really is, but for some reason it made me think of JHerbin Rouille d' Ancre and Sailor Peche (sadly discontinued).

Enjoy your pen and have fun finding THE ink! :)

and gratuitous dog photograph - I just emptied the trunk and came back to Parker sitting in the trunk, he is now 3 so maybe he thinks he can ride back there!

Your Parker looks so scrumptious! I am sure he is sweet as milk chocolate.

I just love your boxer and your painting-/drawingkit. It is such an inspiration. I am trying to improve my drawing skills by working my way through the book Drawing on the right side of the brain.

Thanks. But I am a complete novice at drawing too! You can tell from just how many pages I have done in the sketchbook. And I can't do people. I need to get a good book too. I will check out the book you mentioned.

Thanks for letting me know! I got a pm with this problem some time ago. I still don't know why do the photos display for some and not for the others. Strange. There were a few times when they did not appear to me either, but came back after I've refreshed the page.

I'll try to find an other place to upload them.

Love your sketches!

Attila, I don't know what's wrong with my setup. Your Soennecken pen photo was the first one in a long time that I actually got to see your photo. Did you do something different with that one? Usually when I am no seeing your photos, they don't appear in quotes where people reply to your post either. But this Soennecken photo, I see it in your original post, as well as in people's replies too when your post was quoted.

I don't see your photos in my iPad (first gen) or my iPhone 6 either. Is it possible it'e due to my location or server?

I know I am missing something really good so I am sad. :bawl:

Just got this......not used yet, trying to decide which colour to use with it: suggestions very welcome. I'm thinking of something in the pink/purple area. I'm not normally a pink girl, but this just grabbed me....it's a a Delta Dreidel....the top screws off, and a little silver dreidel is in there, with a Star of David under it.

So....ink? Preferably available in UK....

Beeeeeuuuutiful! I love the translucent pink colour.

As you are in the UK maybe try Diamine's inks? They have quite a few. Because it is a pink pen, you could go obvious and do pinks or dark reds: Diamine Amaranth, Syrah, or Cerise (bright!), or R&K Alt-Bordeaux, or Iroshizuku Yama Budo maybe?

I would never have guessed. Your drawing is lovely.

I can really recommend the book. It is written by Betty Edwards. I took classes some years ago based on the book and it really worked. But I have not been drawing for some years so I start over again.

I've just started reading the reviews on Amazon and wow over 400 reviews on that book. I will be sure to get a copy. Thanks for the recommendation!

That's interesting... the only thing I've heard about Visconti Blue is that it doesn't have even a hint of purple. I hear R&K Scabiosa is kind of purpley, but I haven't used it yet. I'm trying to decide whether I should get a sample of that, or go for a whole bottle right away. I got a bottle of Salix a few weeks ago and I'm using it for pretty much everything. (I'm big on blue.) The only purple-ish ink I have is Black Swan in Australian Roses, but that seems like more of a burgundy/wine color.

Your Raven looks so realistic!

My Ahab is a frankenpen with parts from different places. Feed is from FPR, you must be familiar with them as you have a Serwex MB. They now sell loose ebonite feeds to suit #6 and #5 size nibs so I got their 6.3mm feed to put into my Ahab. The feed's curvature is just a bit different from the feed in Ahab, just a bit. And then I put in one of my vintage (I think from the 50's) G dip nib onto the feed and I didn't even have to heatset the feed. It was a perfect matching. I tried the Nikko, Zebra and Tachikawa G nibs on the same feed but they will require ebonite feed to be heatset so I couldn't be bothered, I went with the vintage Massag G nib. The material of this nib is odd, it's bright orange colour, and doesn't rust as quickly as steel nibs, but it deteriorates really quickly when used with iron gall inks. I have been keeping this dip nib in Ahab for about 2 weeks straight but it doesn't feel any different and still going without sign of corrosion. I think I will keep this combo going as long as I have the Massag nib. I have a bit over a gross of them so it should last me a while. :D
