I've been too busy to post for a while, but a good friend asked me about this pen so I inked it up and took a picture this morning. Have a great day everyone!

Just I am thinking to buy Lamy Joy. Have yet Safari with EF nib.

What nib for calligraphy you recommend for Joy? For daily using?

Or to buy Lamy calligraphy set better (Joy + 3 front pcs with 3 nibs)?

It's looking a bit blue in the picture. I may have some Sailor Yama-dori that didn't quite clean out all the way in there with the Grey.

These are not the only fountain pens I use (Waterman CF and some cheap Sheaffers), but they are the only ones I have made myself. They are made from a kit that uses brass tubes that glue into a precisely cut section of wood that is then turned on a lathe to a specific diameter matching bushings made for the kit., The one on the left is made from bloodwood, the one on the right is made from maple burl and was quite difficult to turn. I went through several before I got a set that stayed together.

Very nice!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

I think the 1.1mm would be a good choice if you want to use it for daily writing as well. It is wide enough to provide great line variation, but also not too wide to make normal handwriting unreadable. The set with the 3 nibs is not a bad idea either. The Joy is LONG. Some say it helps with the balance, others don't like it that much. But you can always put those nibs on your Safari as well. You could also just get the spare nibs and put them on the Safari when you want to play around. Wider italics are available on the Pilot Parallel. Those are sharp, but many calligraphers use those.

Beautiful materials!
