Wow, that shading is awesome!

I have a feeling it's more about the nib, though. A regular TWSBI wouldn't do that..

Aha, that gave me an idea. :eureka:

I'll be back soon. I have to see what I can do.

What an awesome thread. Sheen. Beautiful pens. Shading. Cool vintage pens. Neat stories. Great pix. Now that was a good way to unwind after too much time listening to blah blah in meetings all day.

Ah, but your taste in music is impeccable. That will be sung at my funeral.

I gave that pen as a thank you gift to my groomsmen when I married back in 1980. I have no idea whether any of those pens are still in use. I didn't like the style at all, but it was what was available and affordable at the time.

I always liked the seen at the end of the movie, Chariots of Fire, where they are singing Jerusalem, at Harold Abrahams' funeral. Very moving.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

This is a wooden pen, custom made from Afzelia Burl by FOSFOR PEN, Pune, India. Usually wooden pen is not that inviting to me. I recently purchased this pen just for a change, and that changed my impression.

Sorry for quoting my own post, but inspired by inotrym's comment, I have done a quick review of L'Amant using these 7 nib units above. I think it shading is lovely in any pen, as long as the pen is fairly wet to allow for the dark shading area to come out better. Otherwise the ink may look rather one-dimensional.

I am loving this ink. Off to write more with this ink/pen combination! :)

Thanks pankaj, I appreciate you saying that. Your burl wood pen is nice. I love interesting wood grain, and gnarly burl is so fascinating.

That's an amazing photo!

Thanks Attila, if I were cleverer I would have thought to straighten up the nib units to make them look neater, but, no. They are up and down and all irregular... :headsmack:

I knew you were living your life dangerously when I saw open ink bottles in your photos (and not just once!) ;) .

Maybe your Yama-Budo is trying to tell you something? ("I need to Wipe My Mouth!")

https://youtu.be/zKrRXW3M4Y4

But seriously, did you have a really hot day or something? Maybe it's the temperature thing? And I'm glad she didn't spit on your clothes.

P.S. Don't worry, she still loves you. Inks can be like that sometimes.

The bottle of Yama-Budo might actually follow this topic and know that it could get its picture in here if it spat on your finger. You are just being an enabler for it.

Two very opposite pens. I just put a new sac in the Sheaffer last night for the first time. The Parker is one of my favorites.

Oh, that Parker 51 is really special! I love it! :puddle:

I agree with uemuraw, that this thread is a good place to spend some time. Since my last visit, you have posted so many great pens and nibs and inks and writings... Lince's beautiful green vanishing point, tringle's desk pen, all those different Parkers, home ground nibs... just to mention some few happenings.

This is what I do in my fountain pen part of life these days:

So, who's got the dope on how to acquire BungBox ink outside Japan? Anyone? Anyone? ... Bueller? Bueller?

Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! That is just beautiful.

How do you change the nibs like that?

Do you have to be selective about which nibs/feeds will fit the TWSBI section?

Do you keep each nib with its own feed or is the feed that of the TWSBI pen?

My ignorance probably comes across loud and clear.

I don't have a TWSBI but, now that I have seen your wonderful photo, the deficit will be corrected quickly!

Cheers,

David.
