I've wanted this one (in the red) for quite some time now. It looks beautiful. What do you like better about the President's nib?

Thanks,

The Pres nib is a little wetter, I feel, and more conducive to the very high angle I hold the pen at. It feels a little smoother by Western standards than a normal Plat; more like a broad Sailor. (I'm only talking about straight-out-the-box quality, here. Obviously, a professionally-tuned nib can be anything.)

I should do a larger review.

What'chu talkin' about!?! That's a great picture and that Conway Stewart looks mighty fine in it. :puddle:

I've never considered getting a Conway, but I'm rather tempted now. Hmmm...

Mmmmmm, this is gorgeous. Lucky you to be able to play with it before you get your own. At least you will know what it is that you want when you order yours. :)

You are right. I am very fortunate to be able to actually handle it and use it and then make up my mind. And my mind has been made up. :D

Snak, is that artwork yours??? If so: WOW.......

D.ick

I didn't even notice that you drew that amazing picture SNAK! I thought it was printed from a computer or something at first. WOW!

No No No. It most definitely is NOT my work. It's my bad to have forgotten to label it correctly. It is by the great master Hokusai Katsushika, a page of his published sketchbook called "Hokusai Manga" ISBN: 978-4096818114.

The book is amazing, pages after pages of full of sketches done by a master with brush and sumi ink, from 200 years ago.

i have nothing but awe for Houston's gorgeous Romillo. And a great review, too!

I've been filling a journal with thoughts for a son getting married, eleven days into a thirty day journal I'll present him at his wedding next month. I have all these pens inked at the moment - yikes! I'm planning on using a different pen and ink each day but my desk is really getting crowded.

SNAK, that Nakaya looks better in your photos than I've ever been able to achieve, and your writing looks great! I'm glad you are enjoying the loan - I know the pen is!

I hope you'll get great weather on the wedding day.

And thank you again for letting me borrow your pens, the decision has been made now. You are such an enabler!!

I have two Izumos, a medium and a fine, and I agree that the President nibs are superior. These are quite remarkable pens. I would be tempted to get the red in a broad, but I just scored a Pelikan M1050 and am saving up for a Nakaya or a Namiki Yukari Royale Vermilion.

hahahaha you are too kind, truly! :D Thank you very much. The resin is so warm and lovely, and while the pen itself is quite large it is extremely light and easy to hold. The nib needs some tuning though, but other than that, I love it.

Platinum Takashimaya Anniversary Pen

Ooooooo! Pretty!

And then there's what I'm working with today.

I have my new 1.9 mm nib in my vista with Sailor Jentle Epinard. I love this ink more and more. I thought I had bought another bottle of it, but it looks instead like I have three bottles of the Grenade, which I don't like quite so much. Guess I'll have to put up a WTT in the classifieds.

Then I have very newest modest pen, but lots of fun. It's the wood-grain Pilot desk pen (Mokume). I ordered it from Japan because of the recommendation by TeaHive. Thanks!! It took a couple of weeks, but came yesterday and it's a great pen. Typical Pilot extra fine, (i.e. a very nice extra-extra-fine) and the wood grain looks great.

And my current every-day pen, the Sheaffer Sovereign with Diamine Blue Velvet. Loving this pen and this ink.

Glad to share and spread the Mokume love!! To think, it started as a chance find. ;) I've been loving mine since it arrived, and it fits perfectly in my Parker base. Starts up every time, no air getting in to dry things out.. Ahh, perfection.

I LOVE the Epinard ink!

Another thing I love about that Mokume pen is the matte finish on the plastic. Even though you know it's plastic, between the really good quality woodgrain image, and the smooth matte finish, it's quite easy to mistake for real wood. And it's a pleasure to write with!

I don't like slick pens, which is why I don't like metal sections, so this is a great pen for me. I'll have to see if I have another stand this will fit into. I'm not going to displace my Parker 51, but it does work there quite well.

Thanks again!

Played with my Rouge Hematite today and finally figured out which edition I own, thanks to this awesome thread.

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/280583-rouge-hematite-1670-through-the-years/

I often wondered what the differences between the editions were, and finally was able to figure out which one I had - Version 1, yay! :D My trusty little pen is a lovely purple Visconti Rembrandt with a Fine steel nib. It's definitely a nail, but it's smooth. I love the subtle swirls and sheen in this resin. So pretty. I wish they had come out with a gold or palladium nibbed pen with this resin. I guess the closest would be the Diamond Jubilee pen in the purple. As you can see, I decided to just dip the ink. I thought the ink looked pretty cool on the nib too. It dries to almost a matte finish, with the subtlest hint of sheen. Quite interesting! Apologies for my hasty handwriting example - I got excited and wrote like a chicken :P I have to really slow down to carefully form my letters when attempting to write nicely. And of course, if I had had any sense, I would've at least wiped down my pen to eliminate those prints from my greasy paw. LOL Awww well. I'll remember next time ;)

I also couldn't resist taking a few pictures, because SHEEN!! LOL

Look at that sheen on the back of the nib. Love!

Feathers, I'm glad you remembered to shake the bottle this time for us. ;)

That SHEEN! is so boooootiful. And the effect on the nib is interesting.

Thanks for that link. I need to bust out my RH and try to figure out which version it is.
