Just returned from a two week trip to Chiang Mai and Bangkok. Sorry, I warned everyone that I was going to be boring as once I settled on my tools, there would not be much variation:

Nakaya Portable Cigar, medium, cursive italic

Gfeller Kip cover

Seven Seas Tomoe Writer

Noodler's Walnut

Rhodia dot pad paper as scratch sheets

Tim, how does it write? It sure looks pretty. Great gift to self.

Tim, where did you get this ledger book? Love it! And good lord, need it!

Doug

The pen writes admirably and is a fine that is very wet, my favorite with well behaved rather viscous inks such as kiwa guro or the levenger inks. It was in mint condition from ebay and I got it for ~120$.

The notebook is a clairefontaine 24x32 seyes paper with 96 pages from France. I use to live there and when I moved to the United states I couldn't get used to the paper here so whenever I go back I bring about 15 of these back. They are a great deal compared to the stuff we get from Amazon at 4 for 6.

Beautiful Nakaya, is that aka-tamenuri?

Thanks, Tim! I will have to look into getting some of those books somehow as I've been looking for something ledger-like for a while.

And yes, it is an aka-tamenuri, and as cherished as it is, it gets daily use and some abuse as I am lugging it around everywhere I go. Let's see how this baby ages over the next couple of years.

I refilled my Parker 51 at work, where I keep a bottle of Lamy Blue ... not quite sure what I had the in 51 already, but I didn't flush it, so it's a bit of a mixture ...

And this is the first time I've lined up the 51 and the Vacumatic ... the latter being a Standard-size lock-down, I think.

Today (and for the rest of the week), I'm using:

Waterman Expert II, left oblique CI - Private Reserve DC Electric Blue
Waterman Hemisphere, Medium - Diamine Oxblood

I just got the expert ii back from my favorite nibmeister, Pentangeli. It's my first pen with a left oblique CI nib. It's pretty fun to use. :)

I'll check with Beth to see if she has any free space on her calendar so we can go to her "palace" for tea while we're there. Should we plan on staying at Claridges? Let's also plan a visit to the British Library to view their collection of illuminated manuscripts. What fun!

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

This is an ink powder that we mixed up. It isn't cheap, but considering how much ink it mixes into, it's not that expensive.

Alas, it is not for sale right now, but hopefully she still has more.

Anyway, check out this thread.

Um, I'm too photo-impared to participate properly here, but I lurk … can I come to London, too? I bet a lot of the places I went to as a student are still there, so I could be a bit of a tour guide -- and help read maps, and all ...
