What ink is that?

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

It came ahead of schedule!

You've been on quite a buying spree, lately. Which one do you like best?

It is true I bought a lot of pens so far this year but I sold more than I bought so I think it's okay (if you ignore dollar value) . I am not sure which is my favorite. I finally got a vintage Tibaldi so I am pretty happy about that since I have been looking for a year or so.

That's some pretty amazing material. And that looks like it has to be an XF or needlepoint. And the clip is 18K? Gorgeous pen. I can only imagine what it looked like brand new. Why have you been searching for a Tibaldi? (I mean, it's obvious this was a very nice pen in it's day, and it's not one of the big names, but curious if they were famous for something specific)

So wait a minute. If I sell 20 Lamy Safaris, I can buy 15 Montblancs? I like that logic. If I had a wife I'd try to sell her on it. Just make sure you "ignore the dollar value".

Yes it is a very nice looking material even with the discoloration. I would call the nib a fine. This one isn't incredibly flexible but there are superflex and wet noodle Tibaldis out there. The 18KR I believe refers to 18kt rolled gold (I have old Auroras and OMAS pens with this marking and none of them are solid gold).

As for why I bought it, I really like vintage Italian pens. They use really beautiful celluloids and Tibaldi along with OMAS, Aurora, Ancora, and Columbus used to make pens of the highest quality (Aurora still does). Tibaldis are hard to find and their recent incarnations have positioned them as a luxury brand which has consequently inflated the value of the originals. So it took me a while to find one that wasn't a ridiculous price.

That's amazing ink! I've got to look for that one. Anyone have a source let me know.
