Don't Just Tell Us About The Pen You're Using, *show* Us! - 2015

I'll be selfish and only post a pen photo..... :P

I believe that pen really needs no introduction. Although, after many years of fountain pen use and ownership, I had never heard of one until I happened on to FPN.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

The nib seems rather wide for an 'F', especially compared with vintage Pelikans. Moleskine paper can't quite keep up with the flow, which really isn't much of a surprise; there's bleed-through on the left page plus lots of feathering.

I'm a sucker for 800 series Pelikan's... I think I might need one of these!

I bumped into an old fountain pen related friend of mine today. Some of you may have met her. Seagull used to visit this thread a long time ago. One day she headed east and disappeared. Today she turned up, with the same "soft heart" as she always had, soft as iron. Turns out she has been in Siberia. Seagull, I'm happy to see you too:

She used to hate swans and eagles and pelikans. She will never forgive me for drawing her With this nib:

Oh my goodness, is that for real? Does it really have rainbow coloured sparkles? :yikes:

That is extraordinary. I thought it only had gold sparkle? Wow.

Oh, I missed the good old gull!

She's gone all the way to Russia and back? No wonder she's got her feathers all ruffled up. You could just tell her she was drawn with a Mabie Todd. Or you can threaten her that you could also use either Blackbird or Swallow, I am sure she will come to her senses.

Wonderful line, wonderful!

Lovely!! Someday, I hope that my penmanship is as lovely as this. I'm working my way through Michael Sull's American Cursive, and his Spencerian course. I've pretty much decided I need to finish the American Cursive first, then go back to the Spencerian. Lovely pen, and that nib is beautiful too! Did you do the regrind yourself?

Yes, I spent quite some time grinding on that one. It was worth the effort.

I am working on this one now. I just picked this one up off ebay and am restoring it. I have finished everything except buffing the cap. I couldnt buff any more without stopping to ink it up and play with it. :D

What a stunning example of this pen! I have a very squishy soft spot for American 2nd-tier pens, and I especially love the Diamond brand. I'm not sure why, other than that one of my first vintage pens was a Diamond Point Pen -- which I still have and love.

You can make any nib sing, obviously, but you are really doing wonderful things with both the flexy-ness and the stubby-ness of this one! And your photography's great, too.

Please tell me you're not also good-looking.

I'm going to try even though it's going to be difficult hopefully and then buy something in January (thinking another Diplomat Balance) I managed to not buy anything for the last 5 months of last year so it may just be possible. Trying to focus on only buying 1 or 2 quality pieces a year.

OK, good luck to you.

I'm trying to slow down myself. But I now choose to try out some of the more friendly priced models. Bought a Pilot MR2 and Kaküno and a Lamy AllStar Copper Orange. And some pencils.

Attila had it about right. Those are some gorgeous pens and writing. As British Yoda says, "Gobsmacked I am"

“When the historians of education do equal and exact justice to all who have contributed toward educational progress, they will devote several pages to those revolutionists who invented steel pens and blackboards.” V.T. Thayer, 1928
