I have not used aliexpress - but have used ebay.com. The pens take nearly 3 to 4 weeks to arrive from China. Ordinary post - but it does arrive !

I put my savings to test

Lamy & Pilot FPs the Best

No more I even think of the rest

(Preference Fine and Extra Fine Nibs)

Pen is meant for writing - not for looking :-)

  • 1 month later...

its been almost 45 days ... i ordered a Jinhao 159... for 3.4 US$... yet to receive it

Why didnt you ask ASA ? He has the supplies. I think, the price charged by him is fair enough (perhaps less) compared to the risk of losing money and the anxiety of waiting and not getting the pens when ordered from these sites like ebay.com and aliexpress etc

ASA has pretty good supply of Chinese pens - though he may not always list it. Even if he does not have them, he can get them in a reasonable duration

Even pens like Ganesha are specifically made (by Jinhao) for sale by ASA order. Some other pens of similar religious motifs may also come in future.

No tracking number? Use track-trace website to track China post regd packages. Typically it takes 45-60 days for a package from China to reach.

I have used aliexpress for purchases (not to india) but to the UK. Delivery is slow especially if you take the free option.

Quality is down to the sellers there, I have had some very nice products and some terrible. Aliexpress do provide a conflict mediation service (a bit like ebay) and I found they favored myself when I was complaining on quality issues.

Custom charges not sure what import limit you have in India but anything I have purchased has came in with a $10 value marked on it even if it was more than that.

Prices on the site vary dramatically, if there is something you wish to get and are not in a rush for its sometimes worth waiting a month as there are regular 5-30% discounts offered and if one of them occurs on something on your wish list aliexpress will email you.

(I have no affiliation with aliexpress other than being a customer).

I have boughts at least 30 items on aliexpress ( not fountain pens though ) and I have always recieved them and the shipping time, can go far from 1 week to 2 months in standard delivery... But most likely it's 3 weeks ( shipping time to France ). But be careful, there are lot of fakes, even conterfeit product of chinese brands.

  • 2 weeks later...

I ordered 7 pens on 8th May. Received 5 till now.

4 don't write properly due to misaligned nib out of the box. One I gifted to dad which was for $40.

Yet to receive other the other 2.

Conclusion: Never going to order from them again.
