Kcat,

Your sample actually looks like Legal Lapis, or Legal Blue. Are you sure you used Ottoman Azure? Just check this pic (btw, ignore the Ottoman Rose that got labeled Ottoman Azure... <G>):

I've been talking to KCat b/c about her OAzure. In written samples I've received, it doesn't look like my OA at all. :( Mine looks much more like yours Wim. I'm going to send KCat a vial of my OA for comparison.

it has grown more green with time.

here's the thing. Though I thoroughly cleaned the pen I put it in, the pen has an ebonite nib. I'm under the impression that ink tends to "stick" (or even adsorb) on ebonite more so than plastic. So the color difference may simply be that ink remainders from what was in there (i can't recall what) is altering the look of the ink. When I first filled the pen, it was much more blue. by the time Leslie saw my written sample, it had been filled for some time.

I'll do some dip nib samples to see if what ya'll are picking up in terms of a greenish cast is in fact a result of the pen, not the ink formula.

Just wanted to give this a bump, as I recently got a bottle of Azure and find that it looks more like a dark green, when I was hoping for the bright blue I see in wimg's photo. This is from just dipping a freshly cleaned nib, I haven't filled a pen with it yet. Are there indeed slight color variations from bottle to bottle?

I have read this about Noodler inks quite a few times on various boards. it seems to happen with other colors as well.

Hi Stylo, Elsydeon,

Apparently, the quantities of dye that cause this ink to change colour, can be measured in micrograms. And a very small difference, a few percent, make it turn into a different colour.

I did send KCat a sample too, so maybe she can say something about that sample as compared to her own specimen?

Kind regards, Wim

yeah - I should post side-by-sides - Wim's and Leslie's are definitely blue while mine is definitely much greener. I'd call my bottle a nice teal. What I wanted Blue Suede to be as I've said a few times.

Elsydeon, you didn't say if this was a bottle you bought from one of the distributors or? It may have been that a particular batch came out that was greener and hopefully newer batches are the bright color that Wim, et al. like so much.

The bottle I purchased a couple of weeks looks very close to KCat's(Oops, I mean it looks like Wims sample) sample and is definitely blue. A lovely color indeed.

I bought my bottle from Pencity...maybe those with a bluer bottle can mention where they bought theirs from? I'll have to try buying a bottle from those places.

Mine is definitely blue. I got it from Swisher. You guys/gals are scarring me. May be I should order a few bottles, huh

Yes, Wim, I'll add Cayenne to my order if I do :D

Hi all,

I got my bottle of Ottoman Azure (like all of my Noodler's inks) from Art Brown's in July last year (2004), on a guided tour of NY pen city. Guides were Elaine, Rebecca, and Rick :D.

Warm regards, Wim
