Lately, I've been enjoying the gold and golden brown inks in my collection. Here are some of my favorites, loaded in a variety of pens (Edison Première, Beaumont and Colliers, Levenger True Writers, a vintage Waterman 0552-½, Pelikan M205 and M800), with cotton swab washes:

It's dark, cold, gloomy, and wet today in Indianapolis, so these colors are a nice way to brighten the day!

​Inspired by kfoss' recent review, I ordered a bottle of Krishna Banana Yellow for myself.

Very interesting color but performance on good paper leaves much to be desired. It does better on more absorbent paper with a sufficiently wet pen.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

One of the recently released inks from Pure Pens, this is Pendine Sands.

 

In the same colour range as Edelstein Amber, N. Apache Sunset, D. Autumn Oak and TAG Kyo-Iro Arashiyama, but still different enough from any of those to make a welcome addition to my ink collection.

 

It's an ink with low saturation, so generates excellent shading. It has a more reddish shade when wet, becoming somewhat more muted and lighter as it dries. It isn't a lubricated ink but doesn't feel as dry from the pen as D. Autumn Oak. It's one of those vintage-looking inks, which are en vogue and which I've come to really appreciate.

 

Being very familiar with Pendine Sands I wouldn't say it is a particularly accurate representation of the beach there, but I enjoy the Celtic place name theme being used by Pure Pens for their inks.

By coincidence, by luck and by the generosity of a benefactor, I received a bottle of Pendine Sands today.

 

migo984 is exactly right, and I have had the same experience with the ink. It's very warm, and very shady.

 

I tried it out —along with Cadwaladr— on Clairefontaine paper and Tomoe River:

Cadwaladr is my favourite of the Pure Pens inks. A gorgeous red, as you show so clearly in your photo. I’ve had it in one pen or another for several weeks & still haven’t become bored with it.

 

Celtic Sea & Flower of Scotland are nice too.

 

Llanberis grey is similar to Pendine with regards to shading. It has a lovely purpleish undertone.

Halloween - Have you tried KWZI El Dorado? I recently got a bottle, and find it an intriguing ink. I have tried samples of a couple of other similar range of inks (Ambre de Birminie among them) and to date like it better than those.

Somewhat more yellow, but still extremely appealing, is KWZ El Dorado. DREAMY.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
