If you like eye-wateringly bright yellow, that's a good solid colour on the paper, and even has a bit of shady-sheen, try Platinum Mixables Sunny Yellow.

I like Sunny Yellow.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Every time I think I have enough yellow inks to last me a lifetime (I really only use it for special highlighting), I see something like Montblanc Golden Yellow. I am officially i n t r i g u e d.

Since it developed STIB and is on recall (or so I have heard), most of us are adding phenol to the MB bottles. May I again suggest Helianthus?

I open my two bottles of Golden Yellow (one for me, one for a friend).. and decant them in a clean glass vial ... I did not see ANYTHING... it didn't smell either. BUT, I still added phenol. Now smells like a Sailor ink... :D :D

I do have Helianthus, and love it. So the MB Golden Yellow is not worth my worrying about? ;)

I have plenty of phenol, so I can kill the most savage yuckiness in a bottle... ;) Bring. It. On.

What kind of phenol do you use? I don't think I'll be able to get a small quantity of it. It seems to be sold at a large quantity (starting from 500ml, not yet diluted) which could be used to disinfect all the inks of all FPN members...

The phenol doesn't affect the ink color or other qualities?

I wonder if there is a chemist among us, who might have a stash of phenol in their lab?

We use the Phenol made specifically for arts and crafts projects. It comes in 0.04% (from top of my head)... so it is extremely diluted.

You need to add 1ml per 30ml of ink for maintenance, and 1ml per 10ml of ink to kill anything.

The smell is the characteristic smell you find in Sailor inks.
