What Pen Are You Waiting For In The Mail 2015

Yep! I finished the grinding today, but I need to try a different ink.. The J. Herbin Vert Reseda I'm using is very wet, and not great for seeing the line variation. >_> Gonna try some Diamine something-or-other tomorrow.

Post a writing sample and a close up of the tip if you could please ... I still haven't touched mine. There is a lot of material to get rid of.

Ah! I love my Sailor Sapporo Lamé in yellow (M). Not my most expensive fountain pen, but it's the first that I pined for--the pen that dragged me down the "rabbit hole". It's still my favorite and it is beautiful.

Me thinks I know the seller you speak of. I was originally going to purchase my Sapporo from them, but there was some poor, brisk communication, if I recall correctly, so I decided not to move forward with the purchase. Hopefully, I'm mistaken about the seller, everything is fine and you'll be getting your pen soon!

For $50 more, I ended up purchasing mine from a seller that always seems to have those out of production fountain pens I'm looking for: castle98. He's in Singapore--you won't find amazing deals nor steep discounts in his eBay store, but my fountain pens always arrive in 3 business days (he mails out pens immediately), his communication is quick and friendly and he can usually find that pen you've been searching for for months (even if not listed). I've heard from other members, too, that he's flexible with purchases and will hold items, or set a payment plan for a pen if requested.

Good luck!

I actually have another Sailor Sapporo Lame Yellow on my watch list from that seller, should this one fall though. xD Glad to know he has great customer service and actually responds. Whoo!

Before reginding, using J. Herbin Stormy Grey:

After regrinding to a cursive italic (forgive the poor lighting. Indoors at night and all.):

Switching inks made all the difference! It writes nicely with Diamine, not overly wet.

Woohoo! I have a Mabie Todd #2 heading my way. It's a dip pen, so perhaps it doesn't count.

That's excellent. Title is 'what pen...' - so it counts.

Got the love for it back then? :)

Another Pelikan M200. The limited edition "cognac" demo, which will be loaded with brown ink. My pirre paul's wood "frankenpen" just doesn't have the capacity, or the ability to keep a load of ink liquid, that a Pelikan M200 has. (Then again, neither does my Wearever)

Not really. For me the world of dip pens is far different to that of fountain pens. And at this moment far more enjoyable.

I was curious about the last two on your list and found your website during a Google Image search. Those two do look nice -- especially the Mars Red.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

The Australian government is likely going to be charging tax on low value imports soon, so I've brought forward planned purchases for:

  • Montegrappa Nero Uno Linea w/ red gold trim (Fine)
  • Nakaya Briar light gloss (Broad)

Tick-tock Mr Postman, tick-tock...

A Mabie Todd 4660 with a #6 semi-flex stub and a fairly dead Sterling silver Mabie Todd from 1915 with a #2 nib which will hopefully be a fun project pen.
