What Pen Are You Waiting For In The Mail 2015

I made it to the production waiting line at Scriptorium!

Renee will be working her magical touch into one of these little beauties sometime in the near future. A nice gold nib and bronze accents should set off the illuminated Amber nicely.

A rare ebay purchase for me...

16766410252_37bee56263_z.jpg

Wartime Lifetime Balance, 1000 price code, nearly immaculate. Think I'll be keeping this one, and my last Snorkel and Touchdown may both be leaving the herd. Sorry about the glare-y picture -- cell phone, bright office (no, I don't complain about the office, it's the nicest I've had in 40 years and too many jobs).

$10Word -- please post that Scriptorium when you get it...I'm not a new pen guy but those are really tempting.

Hopefully this will show up for you all as a picture when you click it. I think I might have gotten a ridiculous good deal on these pens on eBay. I have a couple questions about this actually. This will be my first lot of pens to restore. I am a jeweler, so I have a lot of the equipment necessary to do this, but I need to purchase sacs among other things and that is where the questions come in-what would you suggest that I need to purchase specific to pen restoration to make these things good as new? what sizes sacs should I start with for example?

Ofcourse you don't know how they are inside, but it looks like an interesting lot.

I got a very pleasant surprise in the mail today. I thought I was getting the 9314-M nib, attached to a rather plain green pen. Lookie what it turned out to be!

Nice. I'm not generally all that keen on the colors of the Pastels, but that pen is making me reconsider....

Windweaver -- Yes, looks like lots of interesting things to get your restoration skills started with but no priceless treasures. Definitely $46 worth of entertainment. Your jeweler's tools will definitely help you, as my modeler's tools have helped me. However, you'll need a pair of spark plug wrenches (we call them section wrenches) and a good, focused heat source that will probably be a lot cooler than anything you would use in jewelry.

Gweimer -- nice one! I don't think I've ever had one of those.

So interesting that the clip on the Pilot is on what we have been taught to think of as the "bottom of the pen."

Could see myself pulling that out of my pocket and starting to write with the wrong end and then going "oops"

I love the way these changes in design make you look at something in a new way.

ooh! post pics of your new items please :)

i hope your granddaughter likes the lamy safari

Unfortunately, I wrapped them up and gave them to her without taking pictures. Hopefully, she'll put them to good use! I have her a quick lesson on filling and holding ... and signed the journal. We'll see if the seed was planted well enough ... ;-)

Yes ... as someone just posted ... :$46 of entertainment'! LOL true! I rebuilt my first 3 just about a week or two ago. I had most tools ... but yes ... sacs will be a requirement. Different models take different sizes. I got an assortment,... beginner's pack... and, of course .. .the largest in the pack was technically too small for my biggest pen. It still fits .. just isn't 'proper' ... and won't hold as much ink. I got the supplies at .... (where else???) www.fountainpensacks.com. You will want some talk, as well, but a little goes a long way. I just put the sack in the bag of talk ... and lightly squeeze the back, and shake the sac before pulling out. Just need a light coating. It also came with a small bottle of shellac (with a brush-in-the-ca-) for 'gluing' the sacs to the nib portion. Replacing a sac is easy-peasy. Some may not take sacs .. but you will find out soon enough when you tear into them! Good luck with your project!

I see what you mean! I have this very model of lead pencil, but it's an unadorned hot pink, not the pretty one in your post. :(

I can't wait (but I have to) for the Platinum Kanazawa Haku "Swirling Petals of Cherry Blossoms" to arrive. The Kanazawa gold leaf is so beautifully applied by hand into one of my favorite motifs: Cherry Blossoms. I'm also a big fan of Japanese Maki-e (Japanese lacquer art or "urushi"), so the combination of motif and urushi in one pen is a big winner for me. And, oh-my-GOD, I got an amazing deal on it :yikes:.

Until then, the following will hold me over (received it today B) ):

I also got this Pilot Capless Decimo (M) for a sweet price. Call me satisfied.

Not even if I never get one. Not even if they vanish from the planet. No. No. No. No. No Brown Tortoise M800 with an IB nib.
