Another Nakaya. This is it or I'm going to have to be institutionalized.

I figured my next pen might be a 1.2ish stub 51. To hell with that plan. I just bought another Sheaffer inlaid stub. From the same place I got the last one even.

It was in the mail but arrived today (just 4 days from the UK!) courtesy of fellow member Cob.

Oh, it is a Mabie Todd Swan 100 with a stubbish and flexible nib.

As I have already said to Cob via the backchannel, I have never written with anything quite so extraordinary. I am literally stunned by the beauty, simplicity and performance of this Swan. As soon as a have some spare time - this weekend is shaping up to be full on busy - I must do a writing sample and photos.

I simply cannot recommend Cob highly enough. You've seen his pictures of those wonderful old Mabie Todds, and I think you all owe it to yourselves to give one a try (if you haven't already).

Whoo, what a ride! :D

Parker 51 Aerometric parts - a cocoa hood, demi-sized innards... The barrel (Navy Grey demi) arrived today. Yup, building a two-tone pen. :) All I'll need are a nib and a cap, which I've yet to find.

I've got two new pens in the mail at the moment, a Sailor Pro Gear II slim with gold furniture (looks lovely), and a Pelikan M400 White Tortoise, both with fine nibs. The Sailor is intended for writing 漢字(Chinese), whilst the Pelikan will mostly be for English note-taking. I'm hoping both will get here soon, but the Sailor, despite having been shipped 4 days ago, has yet to leave Japan. I'm thinking that the seller used slow-speed shipping, and from what I hear I may be waiting a few weeks. :( The Pelikan just shipped out today, so I'll probably be getting that first. Can't Wait!

Well, the last notification I got from the USPS was that the Pelikan 400 had made it to the Pittsburgh facility as of about 7:15 this morning. :bunny01: So keeping my fingers crossed that it will be out for delivery today (or at the latest, tomorrow).

Plus, I just pulled the trigger on a red Parker 45 with a fine (gold?) nib. Price seemed decent, and free shipping. Only bidder; don't know if that bodes well or ill. Seller said in the listing that the "cartridge" (really, a squeeze converter -- don't these people bother to do *any* research?) needed to be replaced but on further queries it appears that the pen is just out of ink... (it's times like these that I really miss the old "blink" .gif). Nib didn't look to be in the greatest shape, but we'll see....

Drumroll please...finally waiting on a Pelikan M400 brown tortoise (very early birthday present), and one with double rings at that! :happy:I'm dying to try a Japanese nib since I think it is the missing link for me given my handwriting, but that may have to wait a while...

What nib are you getting on that brown tortoise? I have a fine on mine (1990s era) and it's very wet and juicy and has some spring to it. Just a lovely pen to write with, and probably draw with as well. Doesn't quite beat my Plum 51 for favorite pen but it's definitely #1-1/2 (like the old Avis car rental ads ).

For some reason, I keep putting brown inks into it. I keep meaning to go all wild and crazy and try something radical like turquoise, but then the pen gets flushed and in goes another brown.....

Congratulations on a lovely present -- I think you'll be really happy with it.

My Parker 51 Vacumatic arrived! It's Dove Grey, but in better condition than described in its eBay listing, and an extra-fine nib to boot, with a perfect pearly grey cap jewel. Awww yissss, count me happy!

Thank you Ruth. :) I agree. It is one of my grail pens--the pen to end all pens. I have to admit I feel guilty/silly counting it an early present but I figured it would be a while before one like this came up again and couldn't think of another reason! It has a two tone modern medium nib (from 1999 I think), I'm going to see if I can trade with someone for an EF nib from the early 90's like yours or current EF. If all else fails I will try it with an M200 nib I just ordered!

I'm waiting for my Visconti Homo Sapiens Florentine Hills. I missed out on the Crystal blue one, hopefully I'll be able to pick up a NOS someday.

Here we go!

Edit: For some reason I can't upload the other picture. Balderdash!

Second edit: I've reached my attachment limit, oops. Lemme upload these elsewhere and just link to them.
