Ariel Kullock Pen - Beautiful, But .....

Alex, why don't you just ask Ariel yourself what to clean it with. Might as well ask the man who made it.

You should be able to even upload a pic of your pen to the message.

I did as suggested....contacted the man himself; and just got a really kind, helpful reply from him.....Ive sent him photos, and feel a lot better about it.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I do love this place!

I do not know if anyone else has suggested this, you may be able to take the pen body, or the rusted parts to a jeweler to have them polish or clean it up for them. Also let them know about the Blue Diamond don't want the jeweler to inadvertently polish the diamond off.

Gorgeous piece of art and pen.

Best of luck,

Troy

Hey Alexcat, I usually buy simichrome (and most of my repair bits) from www.vintagepensacsandparts.com

I don't know who runs it but they have a great reputation and are lovely to deal with.

Edit: I highlight this website because they are UK based like yourself. I am in Ireland and have found their service fantastic.

Thanks a lot....much appreciated!

Got a reply from Ariel, which said to try the magic eraser( I sent him the photos ).... Have just done that, and the rust on the end of the filling mechanism is away, apart from a tiny speck, which would likely be gone too, except I ran out of oomph and elbow grease( doesnt take much for that to happen)...the little bit on the cap is more like a little tarnish mark, and Im wary of doing anything on the surface: anyway, my main concern was to get rid of the rusty inner marks, which is done. Thanks for the help and advice....

Ok, that's it sorted.....I got a reminder from eBay, asking if it had been resolved, and whether I wanted to escalate....the seller had said that he would Ive me a $10 refund, and quite sharply told me I would not get more than that, so don't ask for more( a rather rude chap; I was not looking for a big refund, just a token gesture - and he just sent me $10, which I rounded up to £10 and donated to the Cats Protection)

I had asked him a couple of times whether he wanted to donate it to a charity himself, or send it to me, and I would do it....which I have.

At no point did he admit the damage on it.

It was really all about the principle.....something should be described clearly.

So, no apology, but a wee donation to the Cats. And I have a beautiful pen. That's pretty good.
