What's Your 2015 Planner And/or Journal?

This is the first year I'm using the Hobonichi Techo and I'm really enjoying it. The format gives me room not only to document tasks and appointments, but to add other details like weather, what I was reading, family/friend news, and so on. It's become sort of a hybrid planner/diary for me, but I don't include any information that I wouldn't want to be seen by the person sitting next to me at a meeting! That's for my personal journal.

What do you use for a personal journal? I'm still feeling out options and learning about new things so forgive my being nosy. :D

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a Hobonichi- though I'm sad that none of the colors left really appeal to me. There's always black but I default to black often, and was hoping for something different. I could always go the route of a 3rd party cover but I get nervous that it won't fit the notebook or something silly like that.

Question to Cardboard_tube- did you get the English or Japanese version? I'm trying to figure out if I'm better off getting the April start date since I am fashionably late to the party- or if I will miss something different in the English version of the planner, despite being 3 months behind (I could probably find ways to fill up the pages I have missed.)

I got the English version about a month ago. The diary itself is not too expensive so I wasn't worried about missing the first couple of months - I'll use those pages fro something I am sure. I quite like the Japanese version too but my Japanese reading skills are very bad.

I'm using a Gallery Leather pocket weekly planner for my planning (and some reference) needs for this year, and my current journal is a beautiful Pastoral Influences Paperblanks I got as a gift some time ago and just started a few days ago. At this rate, I'll have used up and archived the Paperblanks and moved on to a Rhodia notebook as my journal before June (and that's a generous estimate)

Here to help when I know, learn when I don't, and pass on the information to anyone I can :)

I use the Midori monthly calendar and a Midori with the really thin paper as a bullet journal. Together, these do what I need.

Are you talking about using it as THE Bullet Journal - as in http://bulletjournal.com/

How's that working out for you? I keep thinking about it.

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

I use a heavily modified version of the Bullet Journal method. Over the years, having tried many systems, I have noticed that people generally create their own system out of parts of others that work for them. The straight bullet journal doesn't work for me, and neither does GTD or Chronodex (to name a couple), but elements of them do. Just a thought.

Yes, this is what I mean. It is working for me, but it does require that I stick with it. Also, I find that I also need a monthly calendar for planning in advance. I think what I need is a way to combine both. However, they do fit in the Midori. I think that down the road I may try out the Midori's weekly or daily planner so I can do both within one notebook.

For calendaring I use Googles Calendar. For daily notes, I have been using a Moleskine for the past years and I just started a new one ( the last one in my stash). For a journal, I use a Quo Vadis Habana notebook with a blue cover and nice smooth paper.

Thanks! BTW, I watched a couple of your reviews on YouTube. Very enjoyable - especially the Pilot 823.

I am currently using a May Designs calendar with a week on one page and notes on the opposite page. I had been using a personal sized black patent Filofax last year. I actually converted my Filofax into a traveler's notebook by totally removing the rings and all the metal, punching holes and adding elastic. I cut down the may designs notebook to fit the converted filofax and also added a hand sewn bullet journal and a May Designs meal planner notebook. I am happy I was able to successfully convert my Filofax into a traveler's journal. Thanks!

Christina, I've used all sorts of notebooks for personal journals, most recently Leuchturm 1917s and Moleskines. At the moment I'm using an Apica Premium CD Notebook. Lovely paper but I don't think I'll get another one unless they come un-lined. I hope you find a notebook that suits you!

I'm a teacher so I use an academic diary. Currently I'm using an A4 loose leaf Dodo Acad-Pad in a custom made A4 leather binder. In my binder I keep a month to view calendar, the Dodo Pad and a loose leaf teacher planner which allows me to plan lessons.

Moleskine is my choice. I use Moleskine Weekly Notebook as yearly planer and Moleskine Professional Notebook for everyday stuff. Moleskine notebooks are great, but not for fountain pens. I do not like seeing ink on other side of paper. That's why I use Aurora pen (M, blue ink).

Paperblanks daily planner - small size

Do you have any problem with writing in Paperblanks with fountainpen? Can you see ink on the other side of paper?

Thank you!

I use Paperblanks small planner too and have no problems with fountain pens. There is no bleed through.

The only thing I do not like about it is that there are 26 pages listing international holidays. Those pages could have been for notes.

Thinking about trying the Hobonichi Techo planner.....

A few questions please....

A. Planner

Did you bought the A6 English one or the larger A5 Cousin in Japanese?

Also, where did you buy it?

1101.com or ?

B. Cover

Did you buy a cover for it?

If so, which one?

and where to buy it?

I'm primarily interested in a nice leather cover, if I get one.....

I'm in California, USA, so, trying to figure out easiest, quickest way to get planner and cover.....

Thanks!

I use a Hobonichi Techo for my calendar/planning, and I use a Hobonichi Cousin for my journaling. I absolutely love my Hobos so much. Once I tried them, I was totally hooked

@Mark, I got the Hobnichi Techo (A6 size) direct from 1101.com, and an apple green cover that came with a cover-on-cover protector. I cannot speak to what size is best for you as it depends on how you intend to use it. I use my for daily agendas, random notes and memorandums and the occasional (poor) sketch or two. Works for me at least. I use full size Midori Traveler for personal journaling though.
