Dry, toothy Lamy 2000 EF

Update: Another twist in the story! I am preparing a review for this 2000, and in the process of taking photographs, I noticed that the nib didn't look quite right. Well, let's flip the 50mm lens around for a closer look, and alas! The tines are misaligned! I draw some circles to see exactly where the problem lies and yes, there is a scratchy spot - NE. So, I carefully bend the high one down until they're aligned (I think... further photography will tell), and, well, the scratchy spot is gone! I haven't thoroughly tested or used the pen since, so I'll have to postpone any definitive comments until later.

But misaligned tines, oh! And they flew right by the nibmesiter! (or, ehm, well, maybe I got too enthusiastic with the flex? but that would spring the nib, not misalign the tines, no?)

I switched my L2K XF from Pelikan Royal Blue to Waterman Florida Blue and noticed an improvement in smoothness. Then I moved to Noodler's Eel, American Blue. I had to grab ahold of the desk while writing with the other hand. Wow - - what a difference. This lubricating ink also will be a help to the piston.
