Fude Vs Arabic/architect Point

I was wondering, while scribbling with my custom Arabic nib, what would be the difference, regarding the line produced, between an Arabic/Architect point and a Fude nib... They look exactly the same to me on screen (somewhat the opposite of an italic), but since I don't own a Fude nib, I can't actually tell the difference in person, so I thought of asking here....so, is there any palpable difference between these two? Thanks!

A fude turns up at the end.

Kind of like this.

I have a medium-size collection of these (starting with that M 86) and once did a blog post about them myself.

Hope this helps!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Thanks, I do understand the physical differences between the two...I was wondering if there's any difference in the line produced on paper. I've always seen Fude nibs as a cheaper alternative to an architect grind...please correct me if I'm wrong.

You have no experience of a fude...I have none of an architect point.

But Youtube has a few videos that demonstrate how the fude writes. A Google search will bring them up. Also, in the Chinese pen section, there was a video of someone writing Chinese characters with a fude nib.

I hope the link is still there...

This might be it...

Oh well...since I want to learn Chinese anyway, I went ahead and ordered a Jinhao x750 with a calligraphy nib (which is essentially a Fude nib)...found it pretty inexpensive on Ebay...I'll post a comparison of the Fude vs Architect nibs when it arrives.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have one of the Sailor Fude pens - the slighter angle. It writes like a medium nib but a little more gracefully. It solves a lot of problems for a leftie.
