Does anyone know where to get this paper? I don't mind trying it out myself, and I haven't been able to get into contact with the OP.

Hello,

I just got a nice sample of the paper from the people of the link I am providing below. It came in a nice non bendable envelope. Surprisingly fast for it coming from Cali. to NC. It only cost me $3.00 for 3 A4 and 3 A5 size sheets. I like the cream, but they also have white. I was also interested before actually buying any beyond wanting some idea of them myself. Let me know also whether you want information on purchasing some. Believe Goulet Pen Company, and also the place which advertises in the Classified for the Tomoe Travel journals also sells sheet of it. Follow the link and it will lead you to his store on Etsy and he seems pretty reasonable.

I am not affiliated, simply wondered also about the paper and did a little research. There are other places, these are just giving you a couple examples of where the paper can be purchased. :)

This is standard Tomoe River, we are looking for the slightly heavier one that Izzywizzy has used.

Hi Izzy! I just transferred the costs of the books (2) to you via Paypal. Please check your account I sent it in Great British Pounds. They are FABULOUS. My friend Kathy wants all three remaining books. She is sitting here petting mine and drooling.

Hey

No worries. I am glad you liked it. Would love to see any feedback on the paper v the 52 gms TR paper, especially with various nibs

I will start a new thread soon once all the folks have received the notebooks to get feedback on the 68 gms TR paper and to help input for a possible production quality version of this product but more refined

Regards

Izzy

I haven't had time to test them yet... I was just petting them and drooling all over it...

I have the original Tomoe River (52gsm) .. so I will certainly compare them... as soon as I get some free time.

You know at first I didn't think it was Tomoe, it didn't have that soft buttery feel I associate with it. But putting pen to paper laid that to rest.

I was at breakfast with two friends, both have just gotten into fountain pens. We tried a variety of inks and points and pens. Most shaded beautifully.

And I knew it was Tomoe when my hand brushed past something I thought was dry and it smeared :D

Just an FYI: The books are study, have ribbons to mark your place. They are a deep Navy -- almost a Prussian Blue. They appear study. I had bought two, one for me and one for a friend as a graduation gift. It was money well spent.

I consider the price to be very reasonable!

I was lucky to get one of Izzys notebooks! It arrived today and is nicer than expected, precisely because you wouldn't think it was Tomoe River paper.

I was worried to have this very thin paper in a notebook, even though it is my very favourite paper. I thought it would crimple and not be easy to handle on the go, but this thicker version relieves of these worries.

I only tested my inks on the last page - showthrough as expected, but no bleedthrough, and the writing feeling is the same as with the thin version of the paper. So, since Allan's journal is no longer useable since they changed the paper, Izzy's book will replace it as my travel diary.

Off topic, a note from the capital of Prussia: from what I gather from the net, one might indeed think that Prussian Blue is a dark one, but it really is a rather light one, see below. (Yes, this is how men in Berlin dress on sundays.)

I'd love to check out these notebooks too, but it seems the OP hasn't replied in months. :(

Did anyone figure out where to get the heavy TR?

If you are based in the US, and use the regular size Midori Traveler's Notebook system, you can try these 68gsm Tomoe River papers here:

Only white version available now, but ghosting is improved compared to the 52gsm version.
