[Help] Getting Back To Fountain Pens After A Long Time, Please Advise.

I find it strange that different types of nibs are listed with different pens. And not all nibs with similar pens.

 

I think apart from stock nib you can choose Jinhao nib & Bock nib (Medium & Broad)

 

Even some of the bit smaller nibs fit like Wality & Oliver (similar to Kaigelu size). But usually they are fine.Though Wality does come in Medium also.

Just checked their Gama Hawk again, I somehow seemed to have missed the section listing this completely!

Like I said earlier, I dont plan to fiddle aruond with nibs to begin with, the stock nib will do for now. I'll either speak to them or post here if it bothers me too much.

 

Edit: I just posted pics of the two pens I found while cleaning our the cupboard yesterday in the other thread. It looks like I own two FPs already!

The Sheaffer 100 comes with a converter. We picked up a few recently in black lacquer. A very nice pen for $30 including US shipping.

Gamas are good solid pens. My Revolution with a Jowo nib is great writer and has never burped. My Hawk with the IPG nib and ebonite feed and has flooded on me once.

 

If you want to carry pens in airplanes my advice would be to go for a modern feed rather than simple ebonite ones. Schmidt, Jowo feeds are good.

 

For the price range a Platinum Plasair is also a good choice.

I eventually found a Sheaffer Fashion (with a converter) in one of the cupboards, I plan to continue using it for a while before buying another Sheaffer.

Sorry, I'm new to the FP terminology, by "flooding", do you mean it spilut out of the joint near the screwing mechanism at the body jointor flooded out of the feed system through the nib?

 

Also, did you buy the Platinum Plasair in India?

Flooding as i meant it is a feed full of ink (all grooves saturated). The moment you touch nib to paper it drops blobs...

 

Plaisair is available online. I bought mine from engeika.

I had purchased a Sailor from Engeika. The purchase experience was great. It was shipped by EMS, well-packed, and reached me in reasonably quick time.

Plz tell us What is the customs duty required to be paid on such purchases?
