My Dad is gone now, but he was born in 1913. In his last few years, he was in and out of medical facilities -- hospital and nursing care. I left a composition note book in his room for use as a journal. Every visitor and family member wrote in it. Anyone could read through it and follow what was happening. Now, we are doing the same for my aged mother. There is a lot of writing by many different people. The pen, that is clipped to the book, is a TWSBI Diamond 540. For Mom, the seven hospital stays were one to two weeks each. Dad spent his last eight months in a nursing home. The old TWSBI filled 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 notebooks. It was used by at least 30 people who use fountain pens with a light touch.

Today, the same TWSBI was used to sign discharge papers for Mom. The cap and barrel are

scratched. My TWSBI is fine, and in my pocket.

That was a beautiful and touching story. I like the idea of keeping a journal like that, to keep everyone informed and also, as a keepsake. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts.

Using an old Montblanc 22 that a neighbour kindly donated. This is what it looked like when I got it:

Ouch! After two hours of loving care it is now a decent writer again, just need a little fine-tuning.

Filled with Waterman Serenity Blue.

Ouch!! :o Nice, though, that it was a donation and that you were able to save it. Will you tune it yourself, or send it off for adjustment?

Had the day off so didn't do much required writing. I did get some time to practice my fine nib calligraphy so I was using my Conklin Crescent #25 with totally flexible nib. Sheaffer Skrip Blue.

Also got to write just a little this evening using my new bottle of Voltaire Candid Vermilion! Used my Esterbrook LJ in red with an Osmiroid medium italic nib. Will post some tomorrow. Love the color!

I'll tune it myself. Not too hard, just takes a little time and I need to dig out my proper nib straightening tools. It is not bad as it is, just want it to be even better. Those old 14c nibs are so sweet.

I am no longer very active on FPN but feel free to message me. Or send me a postal letter!

Always a pleasure to see a nib saved. Good work.

A Shaeffer Imperial, black/chrome.

I had forgotten what a nice writer these pens are. Will stay in the rotation for awhile, I think.

Today I only used two pens:

c. 1927 Parker Duofold Sr. in Jade Green with Noodler's Zhivago (looks like a B nib, perhaps)

Pilot Vanishing Point in Black/Rhodium with Aurora Black (F nib)

Derek's Pens and Pencils

I am always looking for new penpals! Send me a pm if you'd like to exchange correspondence. :)

Just received my first ever Jinhao, it only took 6 days from order to arrive - outstanding. It's a 950 M-nib and I've loaded it with Sheaffer Blue.
