My Pilot Heritage 91 arrived from Japan yesterday, one week after purchase. My immediate reaction is that it's a Pelikan-killer -- smoother writing, a similar look, about the same length as an m600 though a bit heavier, and girth that is almost identical to the m400. These dimensions add up to a pleasant writing experience, a pen that's a bit easier to hold and somewhat better balanced than the Pelikan, at much lower price, We'll see what happens over time.

Parker Vector, F nib with Akkerman #10 IJzer Galnoten.

A different Vector (also with an F nib, but marked as "3" on the underside of the feed) with De Atramentis Archive Black.

Noodler's ebonite Konrad, with Noodler's 54th MA.

The first pen was for writing in my journal today. The other two were for making notes and bill paying (although the Akkerman ink would also have worked -- but I like variety).

Later on I have to do some artwork, and unfortunately the inking of such still works better with a Uniball rollerball than the Preppies set up with rollerball heads have done.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

For my usual scribbles and notes, I'm using two pens.

First, a Parker Duofold International, M, with Noodler's Liberty's Elysium -- a new ink for me, love the colour, don't care too much about the smell. The combination of pen, ink and most of my papers is a bit to wet for me: loads of ghosting and bleed-through. Still, love the colour.

Second, a Visconti Homo Sapiens in Bronze, F, with Akkerman Simplisties Violet. The palladium nib really is a dream to use. Lovely.

journaling / tinkering with pens / sailing / photography / software development

Re: Solitary Confinement.......Senator John McCain

....an awful thing....It crushes your spirit and weakens your

resistance more effectively than any other form of mistreatment.

Having no one else to rely on, to share confidences with, to

seek counsel from, you begin to doubt your judgment and courage....
