Edison New Filling System?

Bill Wood

Recommended Posts

I'm a big fan of Edison so I'm watching this one carefully. The Hudson is no more - and a new production line pen will be out in the New Year - but Brian is working on a new filling system.

I wonder what the system will be this time?

I think it could be hard to invent new filling system anyway. I mean something really new, not new version of vac fill or so.

One thing we can be certain of, no matter what kind of filling system it turns out to be, if Brian does it, it will be done right. Merry Christmas to everyone!!

I heard a comment Brian made some time ago, and based on this comment I am guessing lever filler. Everyone is doing a piston these days and Brian tends to do fillers that are out of the ordinary.

I'd love to see a lever filler.

Well the new and shiny factor would be undeniable, but it's not the most practical filling system in the world ...

There are a helluva lot of different filling types: http://richardspens.com/?page=ref/fillers/fillers.htm

I think the ones that are very interesting, very practical, not still under patent, and not yet offered by Edison are as follows:

Lever (or the many other variants on a sac compression system, such as the button filler), syringe, plunger/vacuum, piston, or Dunn-style filler

It would be really neat to see a bulk-filler-type system in an Edison, but I'm sure that the system is patented and would have to be licensed.

Whichever system is chosen, it will definitely be well-executed by Brian.

Franklin Christophe is coming out with a piston filler. I'm not a big CC guy and when I spoke to them, apparently the parts were already there. However, I think Brian bulb filler is simple but elegant and works like wildfire. Also his pump filler is great, because it is brass, can be repaired forever with vac parts and is really a quality piece to touch and use.

I feel a piston fill would appeal to a wider group, but I'd love to see a lever fill! A lever fill in something shaped similar to a Pearl. Sigh! 😼🐾

Edited to say: wow! My 1000th post!

We should probably get word on this new Edison filling system pretty quick. Mentioned early Feb.

I certainly haven't lost interest. I must be checking his web page at least twice a day...every day.
