I think the one I actually spent the most on was a parker 100 (the ivory with a gold plated cap), but I have several pens I spent a lot less on that seem to go for a lot more than I spent on that one now. There's probably a moral in that...

It's close, but the most I have spent on a pen is $100 for a Pelikan M200 Cognac, right ahead of my True Writer Silver Anniversary ($99).

Not sure if I have held I my hands anything more expensive or not.

Great post and fun reading the responses.

The most expensive pen I own is my most valuable pen and my favorite - Franklin Christoph Panther 40 in brown shimmer with a Masuyama 14K medium stub flex nib. This is truly a stunning and amazing pen and writes like a dream.

My grail pen is the most expensive one: Montblanc Princesse Grace De Monaco. The purple one, oh its such a beauty. Well, I think that will remain the most expensive one for a really long time.

My TWSBI 580 AL is the most expensive pen I own. It ended up costing me over AU$80 due to a poor exchange rate.

I'm going through an internal battle now to decide if I want to buy a gold nibbed pen or not. I'm happy with my current set up so putting it off at least for now.

My most expensive pen was a Pelikan M1005 in black/rhodium. It is a pen that will never leave my collection, as it is one of my favourites. A close second is my M800 Brown Tortoise with BB nib.

My most "expensive" pen . . . that is easy, the one I bought here in Australia.

I only have two pens - an Aurora Optima and others.

I'd say the first one...that was the slippery slope.

Henry Simpole LE Jasmin Pen #36/50 sterling silver overlay

Do you use silver polishing cloths to maintain this sheen?

I started to make my own, partly to stop myself buying more, but I now I dread to think how much cash I've poured into the endeavour. A MB collection might have cost less.

Agreed. But unless I am mistaken, there seems to be a bimodal distribution here. One peak around $100 and the other about $500 or so.

For love of it. And yet not waste time either.

I bought FPN's Conid for about the price of a laptop computer... I can't wait for it to arrive. :))

That's a gorgeous pen. You have to post pics of it, when you get it
