While roaming the "New Arrivals" section of Jetpens I came across a new finish for the Liliput. It's called fireblue and it's incredible.

And it's sold out. I can see why.

EDIT: Here is the link to see more pictures.

I think this pen is gorgeous. But it's not worth $168 to me.

In my opinion, the finish is enough to make it worth $168. Now if only I could find one....

  • 2 weeks later...

Buy a regular Lil, and take a blow torch to it.

Would that work on the their copper, brass or stainless pens ?

I doubt it.

The steel is raw (whatever that means) and they use some kind of oil on it to create patterns.

I would love to try it but the stainless and copper are over a $100

Might as well step and get it done right for $168

Probably it would not work on their other pens but not totally certain it's worth the premium price tag too.

Looks like it has been case hardened.

I much prefer the Copper finish, and have been really tempted to get one because the exterior design of the Lilliput really appeals to me, but I find the inability to use anything other than cartridges a huge negative.

I'm not sure I'd like the pen, but I am fascinated with the appearance and finishing process. If one ever shows up on Classifieds, I'll probably be on it!

but $168 is just a little over the top

Considering that finish is entirely handmade, you also have to factor in the cost of human labour to the materials cost.
