I just received my Lamy Al-Star 2014 special edition in green-blue. It is currently filled with a vintage emerald green from the 1920's that a friend gave me to try.

Currently all of my Lamy pens are in use:

  • Lamy Dialog 3, M-nib, Pelikan Tanzanite ink (converter)
  • Lamy 2000 Makrolon, M-nib, Pelikan Saphire ink
  • Lamy 2000 Stainless Steel, M-nib, Pelikan Tanzanite ink

I appreciate the pure design approach ("form follows function") and the high manufacturing quality of the Lamy pens.

And, of course, the beautiful writing characteristics.

Wow! The Dialog 3 is at the top of my wish list!

Be Aware that the balance of the Dialog 3 is very much in front of the pen, and it (at least mine) is prone to drying out quickly.

The nibs are the gold nibs, same system as on the Safari, so you can easily buy a spare in another size.

They are very smooth..

Trying to hold myself back from having all my collection inked at once! I just got Diamine Macassar to go with my Coffee Al Star yesterday. I love Private Reserve Rose Rage in the 1.1 nib but I can't settle on an Al Star body that I like to go with it. Still don't like the co-ordination with the Graphite Al Star either (already had it in the Coffee and Shiraz bodies).

I absolutely LOVE the pen ink combinations you have here. So amazing.

The new CopperOrange Al-Star. Amazing color, but I don't have the special edition ink... yet. It's on the way! :D For now it's Lamy Blue. I find it a bit dry and the pen hard starts with that ink.

"Oh deer."

I agree there were some problems on drying out due to some mechanical problems with the closing mechanism.

I got an issue with the nib not being in a straight line with the clip and sent the Dialog 3 to Lamy for repair. They made a complete exhange of the pen parts except for the nib.

Now everything works fine, the closing is perfect (not even a single dryout), the "straight lines" are perfect (nib to clip and the laser lines on the two parts of the body).

And repair was done without any costs (except for my shipping costs ... but the costs where replaced by a Lamy ballpoint pen being enclosed in the package I received).

Writing with the Dialog 3 might be a little different compared to other pens but I enjoy it as it´s a great and also heavy pen.

That's nice Azuniga, I've got one just like it. The Ratio line was from the 60's, though. Great pens and the 14k nibs on the Ratio 44s give a Lamy 2000 a very different writing experience that is hard not to enjoy. I love those transparent feeds.
