What Lamy Are You Using Today?

Tradition tells me nothing about capless pens or anything else.  It's simply a matter of personal preference.

However, it is my misfortune that I am too much of a traditionalist when it comes to pens.  I'll stick with screw on capped pens and leave the capless pens to those who enjoy them.

I'm not sure why you alluded to being a ‘traditionalist’ as if that was your reason for eschewing hapless fountain pens, then. Never mind. Each to his own.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Personally, the thought of hapless fountain pens fills me with sympathy...

Perhaps it was a poor choice of words or wording on my part in my feeble attempt to explain that my taste in pens leans toward like the turn of the century eye dropper that belonged to a long-deceased family member, or the 1930 De La Cru and Conway Stewart's or more recent Wyvern, Diplomat and Parker pens I own and the modern renditions of the same pens.

As I said, i appreciate the design and functionality of capless pens and know that their are many here who love them.  Each of us has our own preferences. Some of us prefer monotone colours while others cherish pens of the brightest, boldest colours hence the recent 'orange pen' thread. Some of us like hooded nibs while others loathe them.

Again, it is simply a matter of aesthetics and one's tastes as it applies to almost everything we see (art), touch, hear (music), or own.

Me too! Their sad sacks have often deteriorated and it's hard to find ones in the right sighs.

Mate, do you remember those old two seat desks with the inkwells?  Imagine being lefthanded and stuck in the left seat so that you and your righthanded desk mate don't bump elbows.  Imagine having your writing hand elbow hanging out off the desk while your desk mate (having successfully complained about not having room to write) hogs most of the desk.  Add in to that the smearing of what one has just written, and overwriting is a natural consequence.  Regrettably, it was a painful habit that carried on into adulthood and into middle age.

Yes, I do remember the trauma of it all and the misery of trying to do well at tasks that ran against the grain. An early lesson in the unfairnesses of life for sure.  But here we are, still in the game. 🙂

The only Lamy I will use is the 2000. A classic.

I am not quite that orthodox that I exclude all other Lamys, but I will say that since I recently discovered the 2000, it is rapidly becoming a favorite.

After some long time with my Santini Giant 8, I felt the desire for a light, slim pen, and so I've brought out my Lamy CP1 with a B gold nib tuned to be hyper-wet to use for a while.

Today I'm using a Lamy Persona with an unidentified M or F nib. Very nice writer 🥰

I put some Iroshizuku Ajisai in it, as I wanted a medium/light royal blue, but it may be a bit too light.

I really like that ink...  it almost glows.  To my eyes it looks like a lavender blue ink.

I have a 2K and an Aion on my desk.

Been using the French Blue Safari for the past couple of days.  Trying to empty the fill (Diamine Scribble Purple) because I lost the cap somewhere in my house yesterday. :headsmack:

Didn't want to just dump the ink, so I've got the pen in a ziplock bag to keep it from drying out too badly.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

It does almost glow under the fluorescent lights of my office!

Not so much at home with warm 2700°K LED lights. I want to say it really depends on the pen too...I usually like it better once it has evaporated a bit in a pen.

AlsoI really should buy a 2000, even if I'm not a fan of piston fillers...and so many pens on my "want" list.

Haha, it "Glows" under LED daylight bulbs too...  I like "Glowy" inks.  Private Reserve Lake Placid Blue  does a similar thing.

And I agree, I like the ink better after it's had a chance to "settle in" for a while.  In fact  most inks look better after they have a chance to "settle in".  I'm not sure how much evaporation goes on inside the closed system of a pen but inks definitely look more saturated after they "settle in" than fresh out of the bottle. 🙂

Thanks for the suggestion, PR LP blue seems worth trying! I'm a sucker for these shades of blue, and so far didn't find the perfect one.
