LAMY Aion - black, with a black M Z50 nib - black in black - looks rather cool

Filled with Aurora Black, not a bad combo!

Pity about the clip, otherwise it would have been a stealth pen...

For a really smooth experience, try a replacement gold nib.

The Aion with a Gold nib would be one of the cheapest gold-nibbed pens around!

Grading exams today. Using Persona, 27m and 2Km. A Pelikan got lost in the pack, can you find it? attachicon.gifIMG_20171029_104505.jpg

I see nothing...

(To tell the truth I like & use Pelikans as well, so I could even spot the clip in profile....)

Lamy 2000 locked and loaded with Waterman Intense Gray. I absolutely ADORE this pen, however it took awhile to make the chemistry happen.

First pen:

Ding-dong! My doorbell rings after days of agonizing USPS Ground Shipping. I open the door and gasp at its magnificence. THE TAPE IS UNCUT! How pristine it is! I could tell my day was going to be a great one. I ran inside, gingerly holding the box that held my weeks of fantasizing up to this moment. "Ok, here we go," I exhaled. RRRRRIP. The plastic bubble wrap comes out. There it is. The beauty itself. THE BLACK BOX!! YES, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED!!! It's minimalistic and industrial, the perfect business-like look I have come to love. And then everything went downhill from there. The box was stuck under a layer of plastic wrap, so it was anchored to the bottom of the box. Good job, packager! I cut it out and realize I put a gash in the outside piece of cardboard encircling the case. I mentally curse myself for being clumsy. And because of this gash, when I go to take it off, it opens up and the pen nearly falls to its doom. Instructions fly everywhere. "Ugh, why did it have to come to this?" I immediately glared at the address on the box, as if the seller would be pointing and laughing at me. "Whatever, at least the pen is fine." Oh boy, was I wrong. The pen is inked up. I am ready to take my first strokes. It first starts great. SSSCCCRRRRHH. The nib tears through the paper. Maybe it's extra-fine on the bottom? I grab my handy loupe, and, lo behold. The nib is so bent, I could use its point as a razor to cut up my hair. And trust me, my hair is not something to mess with. It has literally cleaned out a barber of his scissors before. I clean it out, dry it, and send a complaint to the seller.

Second pen:

The pen arrives. You know what happens because the first story was mostly devoted to that. Except this time, I'm thinking, "Oh, this better be a good nib. This time, I open up the pen and the mind blank-out happens. WHERE IS THE NIB??!!! I frantically search for it in the box, to no avail. "Ok, joke's up. Time to call them." I calmly explain what happened to the supplier, and he asks me to send it back.

Third pen:

I open the box. I take out the pen. I open it up. The nib is there. Good. I inspect it with my loupe. Tines are aligned. Good. I dip it into the inkwell and start writing. Is there such thing as a pen spasm? Because that's what happened. I feel like I'm writing on glass with a nib made of ice. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWW YYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH." I feel the nib, yet I don't. I do some loops, and so do my stomach and whatever lives down there in that McDonalds pit of despair. THIS IS THE ONE. I do some figure 8's and write the alphabet. At this point I felt the need to rewrite my nasty reviews about this pen. So I did.

The Lamy 2000 is a great pen with not-so-great nib quality control. Notice I did not say quality. The golden nibs (ha, see what I did there?) are very much a dream to write with.

My Lamy LX in Rose Gold arrived today. I got it in Fine nib with the intention of swapping to an italic nib. I really like the stealthy black coated Lamy nibs and wish the italic nibs could also be obtained in the same coating.

Anyway, lovely pen, I like it a lot. Writing with a 1.1mm nib and Waterman's Absolute Brown.
