Sorry I didn't mean shading, I'm acquainted with it by now. I meant when the sheen pools only in the outline of the stroke. That's called 'haloing' or 'shadowing'(?)

Isn't this phenomenon called with a specific, separate term by ink reviewers?

Ah I see! Sorry! I think it is "haloing", but I am not that deeply into ink qualities and reviews, I am sure someone knows that one much better than me!

It must be haloing since it creates a sort of halo around the letter. That's such a beautiful effect, I'm enamored with it now that I've started noticing it.

RBN, thank you for these posts.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I think so, too. Kind of more intriguing than full on sheen!

Btw, I like your quotes, esp the Supergirl one the other day!

Monteverde Hope Green

Robert Oster Verde de Rio. A few dry time smudges have a bit of residual red ink from my fingers, oops.

Updated sample card for Robert Oster Tranquility. The feed on my Safari had dried a bit, I had to prime it for the second round of digit writing. So you can see how dry writing pens affect the ink.

I like the color of Verde de Rio as well, but I agree the dry times are pretty long.

Keep in mind I purposely use Clairefontaine paper for these sample cards, as the paper is coated and represents a worst-case scenario for dry times. That said, most inks I test dry within 30 seconds, the fast ones 15 or under.

Verde de Rio may not be a note-taking ink.

I don't like it when manufacturers marketize a color with the name of another color. Steel Blue is nowhere near the blue's neighborhood. I wonder who decided on the name.

There's an Italian word for this color, "verdeacqua," where "verde" means "green" and "acqua" means "water." It reminds me of certain algae at the bottom of ponds.

Quote was prompted by the fact that I woke up during a snow storm this morning....which....what.

Pen is Faber-Castell Loom <B>.

Ink is Diamine Steel Blue.

Paper is Pigna A4 stapled notebook.

The novel I just finished was kinda meh, so I finished this faux calligraphy exercise.

Pen is Faber-Castell Loom <B>.

Ink is Diamine Steel Blue. I don't know why it's so blue by the scan, it's way greener in real life.

Paper is Pigna normal A4 stapled notebook, but a strange variety with good paper, not the normal variety with crappy paper.

"Rivers of London" is the first book of the Nightingale saga by Ben Aaronovitch. Read it a bunch of years ago. I have good memories of it and I recommend it.

The difference in hue in the scan is due to the fact that the pen was leaking. This is common when I swap Lamy nibs on my Wing Sung 3008 pens.

When I wiped the excess ink off, the color reverted back to normal. So everything before the word "sky" is very over-saturared. I'm uploading this scan anyway because I think that the "wrong" hue is still great and that the red halo of the words "earth and" is lovely.

Pen is Wing Sung 3008 with Lamy 1.5mm nib.

Ink is Pelikan 4001 Dunkelgrun.

Paper is Rhodia pad #18 80g/m.

Quote is the incipit of "The Improvisatrice" by Letitia Elizabeth Landon. Great poetess.

Monteverde Jade Noir. I love this dark green with black undertones.

Not every green is for me, but I'm enjoying all of these. I think I am like the NOIR series.
