Pelikan 100N 'n' Nib?

Hi, just got this baby today and was wondering if anyone could tell me something about it? Long story short, bought a used Pelikan 100N for cheap and the nib turned out to be something interesting.

The nib (and the pen) have obviously seen a lot of use (against a ruler looking at the wear on the tines near the tip) but other than that and the slightly misaligned tines it looks purdy great in person. Goes from 0.2 to 1.8mm (easily). Anyway, couldn't find any info online (as of yet). What do you think?

Can't wait till I have the nerve to send the 101N I got from an auction earlier this year for a full restoration, going to have this one put into it. :)

Thanks!

Interesting. From that picture, it appears that the right tine is shorter than the left. Not sure if that is an optical illusion or not. If that's the case, it would be more in line with a right oblique. That wouldn't explain the "N" though. A right oblique is "Rechtsschräge." I'm not familiar with any nib size designation with an N. Hopefully somebody more knowledgeable about these vintage nibs can shed some light. I'm very interested to learn the answer to this puzzle.

Don't know what N means...would have to look at my 100n, which says K and is also right oblique.

Yours looks right oblique to me.

Mine is superflex....easy full flex, the first of the three super flex sub sets. The next would be a wet noodle, the last as Oxnard calls them a Weak Kneed Wet Noodle.

Don't have any of the last.

Perhaps it has to do with some sort of flex rating.

A D=daur/manifold.

In Pelikan, N also indicates right oblique as opposed to Z for normal left foot oblique.

Very interesting. I've never seen an N or Z stamp previously.

I own a late 40's 100N with an oblique nib and do not have the Z stamped on my nib.

Very interesting indeed. I have never heard nor seen of such a thing on these nibs..

Normally, obliques are stamped 04-09 on the piston housing (Kolbenführung) not on the nib.

I can vouch for the 04 through 09 being in Pelikan's literature as Left Oblique Nibs (Linksschräge Spitze)

04 - Triple Broad

05 - Double Broad

06 - Broad

07 - Medium

08 - Fine

09 - Extra Fine

My 100n is narrow right foot, I'd guess a vintage F ...no size but the K.
