I just got a bottle of R&K Scabiosa today. I think I must not have it in the right pen. The way it looks to me is really quite dull and drab. I was hoping for a more classic mauve, but it just seems to lie flat on the paper. Maybe an iron gall thing?

 

Are there certain kinds of pens that you'd suggest for this particular ink?

Thanks, Tas, the Scabiosa is much better in a wetter pen.

One of the most interesting inks I've used: Private Reserve Burgundy Mist. It's really complex, and the sheen is intense.

It's a beautiful sort of lilac, a purple gray.

OK. Here's another of my favorites: Black Swan in Australian Roses. I know, there was some controversy about the formulation, but the shading is great with this!
