I'm fairly impressed with this color, but I don't know wether I can use up a full bottle. (Thank you, kpatters5274 for this ink!)

Noodler's Purple Heart

I found that this ink is not just special, but it really ends up looking very rich on cream colored papers. I really love it.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I posted this in the Inkophiles journal thread, but wanted to add it here as well. These are all of the purples (and pinks) currently in my possesion.

My favorite purple is, of course, Levenger Amethyst, followed closely by Levenger Regal. In addition to those two, Poussiere de Lune, Noodler's Purple, and Noodler's La Reine Mauve are staples in my ink collection and usually have a dedicated pen.

I just inked up Amethyst and my flow was off. The Levenger inks really are pretty.

Kyo-iro isn't made by Sailor.

Thanks for the info. I made the not altogether illogical inference that if it was Japanese and I couldn't have it, it was Sailor.

This ink is aptly named. My Ahab has never recovered from the fill of grape, but I still think it's a beautiful color.

I also think it's a beautiful color, but it gave me flow problems in pen after pen. Another person who had struggled with Grape suggested De Atramentis Alexander Hamilton as a better behaved ink of similar hue, but I haven't tried it yet.

I love the grayish purples with shading. Is this ink readily available?

I think it's hard to get. I assume you have to get it in person in Japan.

However, I can send you a sample when I have some empty vials.

The inks seem to be available from Sakura Fountain Pen Gallery, in Belgium:

Has anyone put up Dark Lilac here yet? This may not be a swatch, but…

The fact that they don't sell Lamy Special Edition inks by the bottle in the UK is getting increasingly frustrating.

Yes, it gets even curiouser when you realise that last year's limited edition ink Copper Orange did not sell by the bottle in Sweden.

Well, I couldn't resist - got a bottle of Lamy Dark Lilac (imported from Sweden). I can't get that gold sheen though (not from a fountain pen line).

Ink Swatch: Lamy Dark Lilac (Special Edition) by Liz, on Flickr

I have managed to get the sheen on Tomoe River, but on more "normal" paper I find it quite hard.

I was wondering what paper would work - super-smooth. The paper in my pic is a toothy sketchbook paper, so no wonder only sheen on very thick drops, but was disappointed nothing on Rhodia or other similar smooth paper (e.g. Bristol Board)

I can also confirm Dark Lilac sheen on Tomoe River with a Lamy Joy 1.9, but no sheen with Lamy Safari Broad on Rhodia. The card I wrote on was a heavily coated cardboard, which might not have been very fair…

I made this purple ink last year. I'll have to try making some more. It's not the exact color in the image. :( I tried tweaking the white balance to match but it is still off.
