All great colors. Violet / Purple is a range that I tend to go back and forth on —there's such a giant range! The pink-violets (JH Rose Cyclamen, deA Lilac), the red-violets (RK Solferino, Lamy Dark Lilac), and the dark blue-violets (PR Super Violet, RK Cassia, Diamine Pazzazz, deA Elderberries)... and there are days when ONE color range will do, but another just won't.

Does that happen to anyone else? :)

No, I don't understand, I'm indifferent to color. I only use black.

:lticaptd:

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Errant, thank you for posting!

Amethyst is actually fade resistant and I really adore the color.

Ahh, so many lovely purples, violets, lavenders, amethysts. Wow. Such dazzling hues and shades.

Must. Have. More. Purple/Violet, Amethyst, and so on.

I have a few of these. I had high hopes for Murasaki Shikibu, given the impressive name (author of The Tale of Genji from the Heian Period in Japan), but it is not what I expected.

I only later learned the ink is really named after the Japanese beautyberry (which is named after Lady Murasaki).

Still, not bad. Worth it if you can get in Japan.

I like a few from Organics Studio--Vanadium and Austen.

And Shigure is definitely nice.

Right now I'm enjoying Akkerman #13 Simplisties Violet.

Slightly off-topic but does anyone have any special purple pens, fancy or otherwise, that they like to use with their favorite purple inks?

I do -- a purple swirl Jitterbug, which is currently filled with Yama-budo, and has frequently been inked with R&K Magenta and Solferino.

I've been on a quest to see if I could commit all Seven Deadly Sins in a single day. Finally, it dawned on me I shouldn't try for the One Day Wonder Prize for all seven in one day. It's simply out of any question as you can't commit decent sloth while busily ticking the other six off your crowded "to do" list. -- ViolinWriter

Apparently Diamine Amazing Amethyst has a green sheen: never spotted that before! Doesn't seem to come up in the reviews online...so it could just be my particular batch/combo? I did have Sherwood Green in the pen before this, but I'm pretty sure it was well cleaned...

Paper = Rhodia A5 stapled

Pen = Noodler's Ahab

I also tested it on Tomoe and got even more sheening, though couldn't get a decent photo.

Diamine Grape also has a green sheen that doesn't show in normal writing but is very evident when one uses the ink with a glass dip pen, or sometimes on the feed after inking a fountain pen.

Private Reserve Plum

I love the color of the PR Plum, but the ink can be difficult (gunky and gloppy). S running it through coffee filters and a good biocide might be in your future... ;)

Agree with you on PR Plum. In fact, all of the bottles of PR in my collection are old, and I'm nervous about using them because of the gunk issues. I'm looking for replacement colors, primarily in the Noodler's and Diamine line.

I mixed my Violette Pensée with a sample of Diamine Pansy (Flower set) and J. Herbin Violette (scented). The result is really, really nice. Need to do a page and upload a photo, don't I?

If this smells as good as it looks, I'll have to get me some. Already got me the Elderberries, which I like a lot!
