Pretty!

And no, you aren't alone, but I hate when inks just have numbers instead of names.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

The Browns topic came up in my thoughts recently, due to looking for a golden-brown to work in a particular pen. And I saw that my images on the color threads had disappeared.

This is most of my brown inks. None are golden enough for me.

What would work? Any of the Diamine Guitar inks? Something not iron gall that is just a bit darker than Skrip King's Gold and with good shading would be just the thing.

My other pen is a Montblanc.

+1 for KWZI Honey. It is not only gorgeous but perfectly behaved. Old Gold (also KWZI) is another very good one. It has just a touch of green. Honey leans more orangish.

Yet another Sarah.

Still behaves when heavily diluted. Currently using it 1:1

Add lightness and simplicate.

I have a KWZ ink, Grapefruit. Lovely color, good behavior. Only thing is, it smells like spoiled birthday cake.

Brown? Gray? What would you call these?

Monteverde Moonstone is one of my favorite what-is-it colors, smooth and well-mannered, with a fascinating chroma. It's also been named as a possible dupe for Montblanc Swan Plume Illusion. ... which I longed for. Acquired a sample of the MB, and tested them both.

The MB ink seems to flow well enough...but this is my only outing with it so far. It seems a bit less lubricated than MV Moonstone, which may resolve itself in a different pen.

Hi, I just loved Peikan/Edelstein Amber - but they only made the brew for one year.

On my screen however, your Noodler's Apache Sunset swatch looks to be a very similar tone and colour. Is this the case in reality?

No, NAS is really orangy and Edelstein Amber is more brown.

Callifolio Inti?

Add lightness and simplicate.

- for Golden Brown Diamine Sepia is pretty wonderful. Terrific shading. Always reminds me of fresh baked pastry!

KWZ Honey is magnificent but cooler - more green-gold I guess?

Did one of the guitar inks answer your need? They look quite tempting!

Here's some Taupes (do these get filed under brown or grey?) emerging from brownish greens:
fpn_1583373798__mushrooms__moss_ii.jpg

. . . . and then some . . . . what do you call these anyway? . . . . possibly "dun"? . . . anyway, I obviously have a soft spot!

nb under certain lights a couple of these tend green! Very pleased with De Atramentis' Khaki as a sketching ink!

RO Bronze? I'm on a murky green brown quest

Yup - I was sure that would be "the one" when I ordered it! Maybe it just hasn't "found the right pen" yet?

Samples are wonderful thing! I would put the Stipula and Rikyu Cha at the head of the line. I keep trying to find a more perfect version of Burma Road Brown - but maybe I'm looking too hard? On the "moss" side I'm very happy with Kobe #45 and #49, but those don't count as brown.

I found a new Japanese word that made me happy yesterday - Kogechairo = olive brown (or, more literally, "burnt tea!") - yum!

Thanks for sharing this tidbit - this burnt tea color is my happy place

Should we start a thread of "murky" colors?
