Now you have given me all sorts of ideas! I had no idea that Tomoe River might be printable ..... You could indeed start a bespoke ink and paper shoppe. Your taste is delightful.

And those Dover books have delighted me for decades. I love that they are still available.

I'm looking at Art Nouveau books by Dover on amazon right now ...

I always associate Paco Rabanne with the olive green of the bottle, just as the formerly ubiquitous Polo must be a dark teal. Right?

And of course, *if* there were to be such a line of sexy inks based on sexy perfumes, they would have to be bottled in one of the old perfume bottles, slightly modified, of course.

I shall only mourn the word cards very briefly. And rejoice at the increased budget for Ancient Copper.

"briefly" . . . ?!

I only stopped wearing a black armband in their memory last week :crybaby:

I have however convinced myself that I can't possibly test more than 100 new inks so my last book, thank you migo984 :notworthy1: , will see my inky madness out.

HA!!... I ordered 6 books from JetPen.. minutes before they were discontinued... I also think I won't test 600 inks anytime soon....

Oh it is a bittersweet pleasure, down to the last pack ..... Ok, I shall continue mourning, in absentia, with you, a little while longer. The discussion about replacements for these is not yet brought forth a fully pleasing replacement. Although, if the paper were still being made (albeit a different format), I might try my hand at making my own. Perfection is elusive.

I do hope that you thoroughly enjoy the last pack, Tas, each card a sensual and sensory delight. And sharing them with us can only spread the pleasure around more.

Might one of those books, just one, be for sale to an admirer?

Similar to the Robert Oster Copper, is richer red-brown (my FAVORITE ink color, these days!):

Scribes' Ink "Dutch Treat" [brown Series] Chocolate (scented).

attachicon.gif2016-05-25 18.00.16.jpg

I like this ink a lot.

The color is fairly saturated, but not too much, so there is some really nice shading with a broad-nibbed pen.

The scent is subtle; not overpowering, and it really does have a Dutch cocoa aroma.

The ink is quite wet, but I have not had any feather issues. To be honest, I've only used it on good papers (Canson Vellum as you see in the photo, Tomoe River, and Kobe notebook paper), and on those kinds of papers, this ink is simply beautiful.

So for me, this is a WINNER. :D

I wish they had samples ..... Goulet Pens has spoiled me that way. Your review though, Halloween, makes me think I should buy a bottle anyway.

And here is the level of OUCH, to ship from the Netherlands to the USA. A single book is 4,95, but with taxes and shipping, the total is 41,85, or about US$46.00. Too rich for me. I know others will prize these though.

NO, no.. that is NOT the way is done. Why do you think I got 6 from JetPens, to offset the shipping cost. You get free shipping from JetPens (after a limit)... but I am in Canada, I don't get freebies. With the weak Canadian dollar.. I am sure shipping was crazy too.

So, you need to get 6+.. same shipping and then you sell 4 of them.

Of just get the MUJI version of them. In MUJI.com

Currently out of stock, but it should come back in stock.

After too much deliboration, I decided to go with this option: http://www.amazon.com/Debra-Dale-Designs-Punched-Inches/dp/B00Y98BYSQ?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

They were touted as

  • #140 index cardstock means less ink pen bleed through on a smooth finish blank flash card. This product also available in other lighter weights.
  • The larger 2" x 3.5" size allows more information to be recorded on the blank index flash cards.
  • Sturdy storage box with lid let's you keep your index flash cards clean and organized. Great for taking them with you on the go

There is a box for them and rings. So, maybe I have found a winner that is a good thing. You, Cyber 6, have mentioned that the ones you use "feather like a chicken" and I hope that these don't. We shall see. I will keep us all posted. Now, to come up with a nifty format which fits all the aspects of ink that everyone loves. I love the consistency and simplicity of Taz's ink samples, but I have to come up with my own format. I guess the first think is what aspects am I looking for?

I look forward to hearing what you think of these Fabienne. I like that they come with a box too. Makes it all the more pleasing.

Yeah.. I saw those, not available for canucks.. :( .. I will love to hear reviews.

My "feather like a chicken" comment..  .. Is only applicable when you dump ink on them. If you noticed, I use a wet flex nib on my Mnemosyne cards on purpose. Most inks will behave, and a few will feather like crazy... so I know, to be careful with those on poor paper. I like the card stock weight.

Thank you for the muji link! What is the paper quality like?

I actually don't have those. BUT.. I do have some other Muji paper and is hit and miss. Muji sources them from different places (Japan, Singapore).. and some of the lines are FANTASTIC paper.. (the black covers).. and some of the other are just C.RAP.. These are supposed to be card stock, so hoping that they are good quality.

Well, let's see how the paper quality is...you might be called on to try some out if it looks promising. There are ways to get things to levitate above the lower 48 if you know what I mean.

some ink/pen blogger recommended life index cards as having better size (bit bigger) and paper than mnemosyne.
