Yeah, this one is not so great...

And that's at twice the recommended concentration.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Is blue double also? The manufacturers of this ink are painting a drab picture of Colonial America.

I posted the concentrations, and they are all DRAB at at least 2x as strong.

A much better ink in our testing group is Dragon Toots Red. It stands up nicely to many people's favorites, Red Cashmere and Oku-Yama:

Of course, Rouge Hematite is the grande dame here, but Saint Laurent is magnificent!

For everyday writing, I love, love, love the deep rich reds, but occasionally I have need of the bright, eyeball-frying reds. Here are a few in a face-off. Bon appétit!

Saint Laurent really rocks my boat. I only had a sample. I probably need to hunt that one down. I kept hoping I could acquire it and Document Yellow at the same time.

I should probably compare the Diamine and de Atramentis Poppy colors. I wonder which would win the retina searing award? ;)

I mean to do them, but never got around to it. I also meant to compare Akkerman China Town with Diamine Poppy to see if they are identical.

I own all three, but haven't tried the Akkerman yet. Looks exciting!

Side by side and using the same pen on the same paper, I see that China Town and Diamine's Wild Strawberry are the ones that are almost identical. Hmmmm.

And as for the Poppies ("Poppies will make them sleep..."), the Diamine is a slightly more red hue, and the de Atramentis is just slightly more rose --to my eye.

Finishing up the color portraits of some of my inks. For those who love the richness of what courses through our veins:

Not obnoxiously so, either. That is good for pinks. :D
