Morinda looks more chalky in real life:

My first non-black ink:

And the sheen on this one:

I think Fiesta is also chalkier in real life. Oku-Yama is quite pretty.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

A few more images. I was wondering how to indicate Red Velvet, and then it came to me...

And I looked up Garuda: the deity serves as the emblem of the Kingdom of Thailand (the drawing is not great, and is meant with respect)

A very expensive ink for us here in the US, but really quite interesting. The maroon of it is rather special.

You are doing a GREAT Job!

For your own pleasure, compare Tears, 1670 and Cashmere. Three sheen monsters.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

It really is much duller in real life.

I'm with you, I like Morinda, but it doesn't really sing to me. It's not as vibrant and fabulous as I had hoped.

Sounds like fun --and pleasure! I'll see what I come up with. A clown crying over iron ore wrapped in cashmere... Hmmm...

Perhaps I'll have to content myself with the bright reds I have on hand: Diamine Poppy Red and Wild Strawberry, Levenger Cardinal, and Ackerman China Town Red. Not a bad selection, right?

Have you checked out Montblanc Corn Poppy Red? A bit darker than Diamine's Poppy but I love that ink.

OK, here ya go! Unfortunately the scan doesn't show the amazing sheen of these inks. I may have to take a photo...

I've seen a lot of people talking about it -- I'll have to look for it!

Given those, don't buy Morinda.

If you want a red that's in those families but is actually a dry ink .... Then Corn Poppy.

Btw, De Atramentis Poppy Red is really pretty.

Good to know. I've liked the de Atramentis inks, so I'll give that one a spin. Thanks for the suggestion!
