These are my three currently-inked reds. The R&K Fernambuk is pretty bright, moving into the pink direction.

Noodler‘s Red is traditionally my go-to neutral red, but sometimes I wonder if it doesn’t lean a bit in the blue direction.

The Fritz Schimpf Fritzrot is a nice brownish-red with super shading properties.

 

My next reds in the rotation are likely to be Waterman Audacious Red and Edelstein Garnet.

It is a little hard for me to tell based on what is shown on my screen: Between the Waterman Red and the Akkerman China Town Red, which one is a darker red? They both look like fairly neutral ("true") reds, leaning very little in the yellow or blue directions.

 

I ask because I note these samples seem to be written on different papers, and my experience is that the Waterman Audacious Red is not as dark I as I see here and resembles the Akkerman China Town Red as shown. 

 

Have you tried these two inks side by side on the same paper? If so, what is your impression? The Waterman Audacious Red is a nice color, and the Akkerman #21 catches my eye every time I see it, but I am curious how these two reds compare on the same paper.

Oh dear, those were done years apart with different papers and pens. I think China Town red is brighter.  I think we need to do a CRV.
