Okay, filled up the sheet. I had about finished off that fill of Napa Burgundy, so I flushed and filled with Diamine Merlot. Even though the swab shows it leans a little more purple than the others it is a great color and appears to be the winner out of these two. I may end up with bottles of both, but at least one of them.

Amber - made some notations with at least the Merlot and perhaps the Napa Burgundy too on those CRV's. They will go in tomorrow's mail.

Looking great.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Sunglass colors! So bright you need to wear shades... :D

Throw in Momiji, Blazing Sunset, Wild Strawberry, and Bougainvilliea, and the paper might spontaneously ignite!

Freehand doodle of my initial, H, on Tomoe River paper, using reds, golds, and oranges (Rouge Hématite, Matador, Gold Antiqua, Claret, Ng Special '16, etc.). Then a wet swab to smooth out the shading.

Blackstone Uluru Red.

This ink has been in only one pen so far (a Conklin with a F nib) but it has severe issues with hard starts and nib creep. Once it starts writing, the ink is extremely wet and flowing. The Conklin has otherwise been a very well-behaved writer with other inks. So the jury is still out on Uluru Red.

But do you like the color? :D

If so, then try the ink in a different pen to see if it has the same problems. It's almost totally mysterious how an ink in one pen can act totally differently in another pen. So if you love the color, it's worth the time to check it out in a variety of pens on a variety of papers.

Let us know how it turns out...

The color is fantastic. The pen belongs to my partner, who also loves the color. So we are going to try it in other pens.

One bizarre thing about Uluru Red. Before filling the pen, I gave the bottle a shake. That was nearly a week ago, and there are still bubbles at the top of the bottle. And there are lots of bubbles in the converter. This ink looks like it has major surfactants in it.

Remember that the Blackstones are concentrates so you can add water to them and keep a lot of the beautiful rich color.

I did not know that. Thanks.

Well, I'll be a son of a gun! I may have found the exact perfect bright red that I've been craving: Sailor Irori. I had always thought it might be too pink, but in comparison to Lycoris Red and Momiji, it has just the perfect amount of orange to make it brilliant. And the SHEEN?!! Oh, yes!

I'm going to try Iori soon. I love Momiji, but it's pink (except for those few times when it appears red).
