Hi Maxim and welcome to FPN

See our calligraphy forums for more info about components.

By the way, do you have problems with freezing inks?

Enjoy the forum

Hi there! Thank you)

RMN, well my first two inks are Winsor&Newton Calligraphy Ink and Winsor&Newton Liquid Indian - all ordered from States which means they made quite a long travel. Calligraphy ink is doing just fine but the Indian ink is separated into water and sediment. Shaking the bottle dosen't seem to help:) Maybe it is frozen?

Serpent, thank you for sharing that! I will give it a try if it is not even more rare then Arabic gum of course)

Hi Maksim, I wonder why do you prefer "ks" in the name rather than "x"?

Hi Max!

Welcome to the forum!

I use dip pens quite often; it's a lot of fun and very relaxing. Making your own inks can be fun as well. There are a lot of recipes here on the forum as well as online. I've used everything from beet juice to boiled tea :)

PLease do remember, that calligraphy and drawing inks used in dip-pens are often not suitable for use in fountainpens, as they often tend to obstruct the small channels in the feed of the pen.

Only use ink that is declared suitable for fountain pens.

Hi there! That sounds fun) I will certainly take a look at recipes here. You know at first glance I read your message as "from beetle juice to boiled tea" haha:)

Yes I do understand that. Thank you for reminding you must have saved many fountain pens of the newcomers here)

Welcome, Max! Wow, Siberia; I have never been but a dream of mine has been to ride the Trans Siberian/Trans Mongolian from Moscow to Beijing across Siberia and Gobi.

Are you able to get all the different inks FPNers use like Herbin, Sailor, Noodlers?

Very nice to meet you (virtually) :)

Hi Stevesurf! Same here, encantado amigo!)

You are very welcome, when you're ready to come tell me and I will do my best to show you the city!

No there is no very good selection of inks here. Mostly parker, Montblanc and russian Gamma inks. Gamma inks are very good by the way.
