Hi! Has anyone shopped with "Stationary Shop Wancher"?

Wancher is the shop operated by Taizo aka Engeika, I've only had positive experience with him via ebay and his website.

How can I tell the difference between a Sailor 1911 Standard (M) and the 1911 Full-Size/Large on Rakuten?

Get the item code from the description of the item and cross reference it with Sailor's site

for example 11-1219 is Profit Standard black w/gold trim aka 1911 Standard, 11-2024 is Profit 21 Black w/ Silver trim aka 1911 Large...

Also I recently had my first order via Rakuten Global, ordered 8 bottles of ink from Voice. I was charged only cost of ink plus EMS shipping fee, no other fees.

yes most rakuten shops were levying 8% consumption tax on overseas orders in rakuten and i suspect the japanese tax authorities targetting rakuten for violations in consumption tax laws and selling whale meat banned in japan.

Pilot custom heritage 74 all nibs, 742 Fa and PO nibs, 823 F 92 F,M, 3776 FM,EF,1911F

that certainly works very well for pilot also

if you go their main fountain pen page : http://www.pilot.co.jp/products/pen/fountain/index.html and find the model number and then paste the model number into the search bar you will generally get the exact model and not need to wade through a lot of hits

for me sailor doesn't work quite as well but does work if you drill down to sailor under > fountain pens under > office supplies etc and then enter the model number

pilot seems to work right from the beginning "all items" search

I noticed this shop advertising that they would deduct the 8% consumption tax on orders shipped overseas.

This is the first time I'd seen this notice.

Does that mean that they will charge the 8% tax or deduct it after charging it?

These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value.--Thomas Paine, "The American Crisis", 1776

It looks to me like they are advertising that they will deduct it. Which is what I would have assumed all the shops would do. Is that not everyone's experience buying from Japan on Rakuten? I am looking to make a purchase there, but haven't yet, so I don't know how it works. I assumed it would be the same as a UK shop automatically deducting the VAT from the price for non UK residents.

rakuten marketplace has these small mom and pop shops selling their wares. i have purchased pens, inks from rakuten shops of voice, horiman, bunkidou, thearticle, atn, office japan till date and used paypal and had no problems at all. they ship using EMS which is very fast and has trackking.

i am a satisfied customer and rakuten responds to your queries as i purchased ink bottles and due to manhandling 2 bottles got damaged i sent a photo of the parcel and the bottles and replacement bottles were arranged by bunkidou no questions asked. rakuten customer service is very prompt to clear any issues with the shops.

rakuten points/super points:

based on the value of the purchase you get loyalty points from rakuten which can be redeemed during the next purchase.

rakuten has these promotional activities periodically where they give free shipping, 2000 bonus points for new accounts, 20X superpoints etc

hope it helps

Hi! I'm Anirban from West Bengal. Could you help me to buy a few pens from rakuten? I have absolutely no idea how to operate any transaction with them. But I'm too eager to buy a few fountain pens from them as there prices are much lower. Thank you for your suggestion.

Hi! I'm new here. So excuse my ignorance. I'm looking to buy few pens from Rakuten.com. But I don't have any idea how to operate it. I'm from India. Could anybody suggest me how to proceed?

Any kind of help and suggestion is highly solicited.

I don't know whether zenmarket.jp is available in your country, but I use it for almost all of my Japanese purchases. For a tiny fee you can order from Rakuten/Amazon/Yahoo etc. including sellers that only ship within Japan (they're basically a forwarding agent).
