Upcoming Changes To Fpn

Recommended Posts

Sorry I cant understand new changes. Because when I am trying to read a topic system tell me " I dont have a permission to read"

Please clear your browser cache, temp files, history and cookies, after signing out from FPN. Then close the browser, open it up again, go back to FPN, and all should be fine again.

You may have to do this 2 or 3 times with some browsers,

We will still be moving topics across, but we have tried to include at least the past few months for starters.

I've run into a problem with not being allowed to post in one specific thread. I'll contact an admin with the specifics, but just wanted to check by putting a test post here.

Try again, as several topics have been moved and during that process something can go wrong if you try posting in one of those.

Hmm, not exactly. On the 15th try or so, I was able to create a brief placeholder post in the thread, but when I tried to edit it with the actual substance of what I wanted to say, the same problems cropped up. I've been using Chrome, but I switched over to Safari and tried with it. Same thing.

I get the following if I try to use the advanced editor.

I guess you have been using a specific word, that the system does not like, like the name of a certain watch or something like that.

Try without such words (that are luckily non pen specific).

It may well be what D.ick suggested, we seem to have interesting stuff going on in this regard, as sometimes certain word combinations or even in a specific order may cause this. We are investigating, but don't know exactly yet how it is triggered, as it sometimes does, and sometimes doesn't.

What you also could do, is try cleaning your browser caches, temp files, history and cookies, after signing off from FPN, restart browser and try again.

Confirmed. It would not let me type the name of a 1995 movie starring Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci, with a scene involving a fountain pen. I can write the movie title this way, "C*A*S*I*N*O".

C-asino and r-olex, without the dashes, are two specific words the software doesn't like :).

What about other 'creative' spellings? C@sio? R0lex? Row Lexx? ;)

It's actually hard baked into the software, or even the libraries used, not in our ban filter. IOW, we have no control over it at all, unfortunately.

Normally we really don't like it  if you try to circumvent the bad-word-checker, but in this case: go ahead :) .

You may find that the PIFs and Loaner programs now also have their own forum, in FPN World, making it possible to have individual PIFs, with thank yous and everything else included!

OK, so how about a brand focus forum called:

"The Japanese Big 3" or "Pilot, Sailor, Platinum"?

I reckon that accounts for 95% or more of the posts in the Japanese Pens forum :).

I think we are almost done with the newly created stuff, still moving topics around, and it now is 1 topic at a time almost - very slow.

Are you sure you didn't switch that particular filter on? It is one of the options for VNC.

Thanks for all the effort you folks put into the FPN. I am a fairly new FP enthusiast. Without the Network I probably would have not have become a "collector" or be half as knowledgeable as I am now. Of all the forums I belong to this is the only one I do a daily review of. Best of luck now and in the future as the FPN continues to grow

OK, Wim...I'm beginning to find my way around the new board. I like it. Oh, and I hope Sint was kind to you this year (I am married to a woman from Den Haag. I sometimes call her "the little Oma", but then she wacks me on the head.)
