Acrylic Neponset

WetNoodle

Linda, there were some "buy it now" John Mungs available on eBay, last I knew. But at $85, instead of $75.

(Simultaneous typing seems to happen a lot around here, lol.)

Hi Uncial,

They're not stupid questions at all. Tinysnail posted a scan of the Neponset's paperwork in this thread which has a description of the feed (page 2, bottom) and also talks about different nibs (page 1, top). There's no mention of heat setting, and the nib should slide out like the other Noodler's pens. Since the feed is cut for heavier flow, you'd get a juicy writer with a different nib.

Re: John Mung--dang it, now I need one. I'm not fond of the Konrads (threads are in the wrong place for my grip), and how many Neponsets can a girl have? If only there was a John Mung Ahab...

(darrrr...TeaHive posted while I was still typing, :) !)

I would LOVE to see acrylic Ahabs! The current resin ones don't do much for me (though I have admired the Truk Lagoon one for some time). Also, more acrylic patterns in general would be wonderful.

PS: have a 1.5mm Goulet stub on one of my Neponsets and it's dreamy. Great nib for such a wet pen.

Did you use the Neponset feed, then? My 1.1mm Goulet stub doesn't sit flush with the Neponset feed, but it sits perfectly fine with the Ahab feed in the Neponset section.

I suppose I could heat set it, but at the moment, both my Neponsets are being used with their music nibs (and one always will be), so it'll be awhile before I can check it out. But I must say, the two-tone Goulet nib looks GREAT with my Bengal Tiger Neponset. Mee-oww!

I use it with the Neponset feed. This was about a month ago so I think I heat set it but can't totally remember, sorry!

OOOH, I actually haven't bought any of the two tone nibs yet (only steel) but I bet that does look great. Maybe I'll get a Bengal Tiger Konrad and do that...

tinysnail, you mentioned looking at the Ahab in Truk Lagoon.. I actually bought the two tone nib for THAT pen, and it looks great as well. But I think the Bengal Tiger Neponset is going to steal the nib after I get it emptied, hah! I'll get my chance to heat-set the feed and Goulet nib whenever that occurs. :P

Great, now I have one in my cart; you guys are like the devil himself. I think those stock photos were what originally scared me off.

It would be fantastic to use filled with blood-red ink, hmmmm...

I'm not fond of the Ahab colors (well, maybe Cardinal Darkness; and I actually like the smell of the resin, it's Chanel #5 compared to century-old hard rubber) I only have a clear demonstrator, and a Pequot that I got specifically to use with Dumas Tulipe Noire. But the size and 'curviness' beats the Konrad, as far as I'm concerned. Acrylic Ahabs would be fantastic!

I have a 1.1 stub nib from Goulet in a Noodler's Konrad and it's seriously one of the best writers I have. I almost hate to admit that for some reason, but it's true. It's perfect.

However, the Neponset - I pretty much bought for the nib.

TeaHive and Linda, thank you. I'm going to wait until it arrives and see how I get on with the big Vishnu nib before I rush into a Goulet swap....but I know someone here will be hoping and praying I do the switcheroo.
