See, now we are talking... lays down too much ink and pen is too big.... That's my kind of pen.

Those are both flippin gorgeous! :puddle:

You had me at Rorschach. (My favorite Watchman, hurr. Also, I have a serious interest in psychology.) The white underbelly is pretty clever! Or completely accidental, but hey, it looks great!

Lower right-hand corner pic - crazy pen. Trippy. The top shot almost makes it look like it has black end caps. Interesting.

It does--but not on purpose (I think). The top end cap has only a tiny sliver of white right near the clip.

x3!

EXACTLY :D I just noticed the swirls on the cap are the same way--mirrored, like an inkblot test. Are all of the acrylics marbled this way? Or only the Black Pythons...?

That's the most symmetrical marbling I've ever seen on a pen, of any kind anywhere. Also, the middle bit looks like a panda face!

Thanks to this thread, I pulled the trigger on buying the John Mung Neponset tonight. I was too late to add it to the order from Goulet I made last night, that one having shipped already. Ah well, two candies for me.

Add a drop of photoflo and this pen do fast flexy writing.

My John Mung Neponset arrived a week or two ago and it's gorgeous. I'd say that the veins are kind of an orangey pinky red; a lot like Noodler's Dragon's Napalm ink, actually.

Oooh, I can't wait to see the color in person. Maybe I'll be lucky and mine will show up tomorrow!

I caved in and got a Bengal Tiger. I'm not a huge fan of broad nibs, so may have to swap the nib out when it arrives. Does anyone know a fine nib that will fit?

If you don't want that nib... let me know! I'll find you something.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I don't want to build your hopes up, but if it's too much for me and it's possible to change it. I'd be happy to send it on to you. I like shiny pens and I like big pens that are wet writers and I like orange pens and orange inks. There's a pattern in there somewhere and I'm hoping the Neponset hits the mark. I will see what its like when it arrives - should be here in a couple of weeks.

They will fit other size 6 nibs. So the regular Noodler's flex nib will fit, and the Goulet nibs for sure.

Forgive me if these are stupid questions:

I don't know if the Neponset acrylic is heat set or not, but if not then I presume the nib just slides out like the Ahab?

I see a couple of different types of number 6 nibs on Goulet's website. I presume I can slide one of those in without having to put in a new feed?

No worries! The Neponset nib and feed will pull out. They might be firmly in the pen when it comes to you, but it just takes a firm grip and a straight pull. The Goulet nibs I meant are the ones made for Goulet, and have their ink-splash logo. These ones don't need any heat-setting to put in with an Ahab feed. I don't know about the others.

I will say Monteverde #6 nibs never sit right with the feed for me.

You will likely need to put an Ahab feed in the Neponset, if you use another #6 nib. There is a gap between the Goulet nib I have when I put it in with the Neponset feed. You could try to do a heat set with it, but it sits just fine with the Ahab feed.

Hi Uncial,

They're not stupid questions at all. Tinysnail posted a scan of the Neponset's paperwork in this thread which has a description of the feed (page 2, bottom) and also talks about different nibs (page 1, top). There's no mention of heat setting, and the nib should slide out like the other Noodler's pens. Since the feed is cut for heavier flow, you'd get a juicy writer with a different nib.

Re: John Mung--dang it, now I need one. I'm not fond of the Konrads (threads are in the wrong place for my grip), and how many Neponsets can a girl have? If only there was a John Mung Ahab...

(darrrr...TeaHive posted while I was still typing, :) !)
