Acrylic Neponset

Does anyone have any idea of when Noodler's will release the Neponset in acrylic?

I'm staying clear of the ebonite version and waiting...

Yes, in ebonite. There are a few on ebay right now.

I think the ebonite version reminds me too much of the Indian eyedropper pens.

Just look at that acrylic: post-34588-0-52926000-1339005843.jpg

If I remember correctly, the acrylic model shown above is actually an old celluloid stock from Sheaffer. Or at least I think I saw Nathan say something to that effect. That particular design won't be made ever again. He said he had so little of the material that he could hold all the Neponsets made with it in both hands.

In the video he posted on his Youtube channel a day or so ago he had some acrylic Neponsets on the table with him, made from the familiar looking stock that he makes the acrylic Konrads out of.

It's interesting how different peoples' tastes are. I don't like that acrylic body at all -- and I love the look of some of the ebonite Konrads. Don't think I want a Neponset, though (no matter *what* the pen is made of). I saw some at the Ohio Pen Show and found them to be much too large for me to comfortably use.

Now if we could *just* get Nathan to make the music nibs for the ebonite (or even the acrylic) Konrads....

No idea when, but the Noodler's Ink FaceBook page responded to my desire for acrylic with something along the lines of "won't be like the prototype, but don't give up yet!" If it's the same acrylic as is used in the Konrads, I will be very, very happy.

Okay, I went looking... I just don't like ebonite. It's okay in a solid, or when you can get bright colors, but the dark colors with black remind me the pictures of hades I saw in books as a child. They give me nightmares.

Bright - Cheerful - Retinal Searing Colors, PRETTY PLEASE!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

YESSSS! RETINAL SEARING COLORS. Thank you.

Yeah, I would freak if they released the Neponset in the same variety of Konrad acrylic colors.

I like the texture of the ebonite on my Gama pen, but I love me some depth in a pen's visual appearance. Ebonite is flat to me.

I would even just be happy to have a Neponset made of the same celluloid derivative as the Ahab/Nib Creaper/etc. Just. Not. Ebonite. To me, the ebonite is simply bland and boring in appearance.

Of course, acrylic is what would really get my rocks off. A John Mung Neponset... oooooo!

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for the acrylic. It won't be next week. It won't be next month, it might not even be in the next six months. If you have an interest in the neponset, and if you can find one, get it, you can always sell it later when the acrylics come out, but it may be a while. Probably the same month the TWSBI 850 comes out.

I think he means that month when Montblanc bring out their new school pen.

I was disappointed to see that the Neponset was made of ebonite (also the price). I really loved that celluloid one! But I see the point, and I thought the pattern looked familiar. An Appalachian Pearl Neponset would be an acceptable sub...

If ebonite is all that will ever be made, I'll have to get one just for that nib. But I have other pens on my wishlist to get, which would fill out a possible wait for acrylic. And, perhaps, if I wait long enough, Neponsets of any material might be in stock uh.. anywhere.

Funny, I fitted a Franklin Christoph music nib in my Noodler's Ahab and that thing is FUN to write with. Just saying.
