Help To Identify

Maison Blanc

Recommended Posts

Apologies if I have posted in the wrong spot.

Looked at a few sources here but could not find this one. My photo is not great but I can take other ones if required. The nib only has 585 stamped on it.

Appreciate your thoughts on vintage or other details from the experts here. The gold piece has montblanc stamped on it. On the underside there is a small sticker that says Germany on it.

Many thanks

There are many vintage models made as desk pens. A picture of the nib will clear out some doubts, but seing the snowflake in the body's lower top, I would say it's a Montblanc Classic in its "desk pen" version.

Okay, so it is a piston fill. Looking at the pictures I would guess that it is from the three digit series. That would place it between 1968 and the early 70s. The 14K nib puts it in either the 2xx or 3xx level and since there is no gold band at all I lean towards a 3xx desk pen set. The hole in the feed puts it as pre-1974 IIRC.

Dear Jar,

Hope you had a migtly fine Texas size Thanksgiving day. Much to be thankful for it seems. And speaking of thanks, many thanks for your research on this. This now narrows it down to a much smaller window of possibility. I will still seek out more detail in case anyone comes across anything for this pen. Still cant find a catelogue or similar model anywhere online. That's partly what makes it interesting.

This is a new piece for me and after observing the passion on this board I am catching a slight fever for collecting these vintage pens. Unfortunately Singapore prices are high on just about everything collectable and the local market here is flooded with copies.

I have another desk set that I will share here in the future.

Cheers

Usually the cap can help determine the model or version but since this pen doesn't have the cap, it makes it harder.

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

I was recently given several montblanc pens. I have been able to identify all but this one. I have researched online and it appears to be a 163; however, instead of a ballpoint it is a fountain pen. Any ideas?

Thanks. I have two of them are these the same pens?

Yes, but they have different converters. One converter is older and one is newer.

I have scoured the pen for any other marks or identification, but nothing to be found. Not sure if there would be any useful marks on the nib if I took it out? I also can't find any base similar to the one I have. I wonder if it was non-standard?

In any case, I think it make a nice addition to the family even without a birth certificate.

Cheers to all
